I find it particularly amusing that my 2 month old, content rich site is number one for some main key terms and my competition (large multinationals) have to resort to buying sponsored listings on said terms. ;)

Ah sweet, sweet Google!

Just a thought for the day! :)

JOAT, I hope this will further stimulate your salivation.

A while back, I promoted a small French site for a local Gizmo in French project. Of course this Gizmo in French project used "Acme Widgets" (in English), what else? So they were mentionned here and there in body text without any special attention. Not a single page had "Acme Widgets" in page title and it was a perfecly legitimate use of the Acme brand.

3 months later I issued my first traffic report. We had 14 times the amount of unique visitors from "Acme Widgets" than from Gizmo in French. So I did a little investigation to explain this to my client. We had first spot for Acme Widgets and for Gizmo in French. The Acme Widgets company had position # 15 for "Acme Widgets". So I decided to pay them a little visit : Home page was a flash intro called "Welcome to Adobe Golive"... after I hit the skip button, I discover an impressive .JSP site using almost exclusively JavaScript links... OK, I had my answers. ;)

Here is the interesting part, another few months later we recieved a phone call from Mr. X of the Acme Widgets company! He was referred by Mr. Y from the Gizmo in French project. So we inked a very nice account this way.
