I wish. We were supposed to have enough snow up here in eastern Washington / northern Idaho to open this weekend but it doesn't look like that will happen. Maybe next weekend.

Great start to the season so far.. We (Colorado) had resorts opening in mid October.. I'll probably head up to Breckenridge this weekend, they're up to about a 30 inch base with a majority of the runs/lift open.

So, everyone knows Alaska is covered in snow right? WRONG! Good thing I don't ski, or this winter's freakish weather would have me seriously bummed... This morning it was raining (!) and the roads got so icy they cancelled school (we don't have snow days here, we have ice days, and "too #&^%#$ cold to go to school" days. If it's something like -50F or so, they can cancel school.)... On our way into town, we noticed that the median dividers and ditches were almost completely devoid of snow!

Whistler Blackcomb is open - technically. Blackcomb has two runs open, on mostly manmade snow. Whistler will be open Thanksgiving. Also on manmade. No sign of new snow in the forecast. Last El Nino we didn't get much snow until about xmas, then we got about 4 feet in one storm series. I will wait.

Meanwhile in London it rains... This is going to be my first winter here at Webmasterworld and if you live close to a ski resort I'm going to have a problem with you posting how great the snow is... I'm lucky to get away for two weeks of skiing this season... And I haven't seen snow in London for years... It hurts... It hurts... Stop this pain! Sorry. But seriously. Val D'Isere is opening this weekend and I really, really, really wish I could be there.

It's the earliest opening in PA for the local place. The "mountains" around here aren't very big, (750 ft vert)but with 10 slopes open already and more on the way, it's a great time to kick off the season.
