You could try these guys first: [housecall.antivirus.com...] It's a free online virus checker which scans your machine across your internet connection. It doesn't provide long term protection and won't take the place of bought anti-virus software, but it should detect and clean whatever's on your system now.

I have been using this free, full-function (w/updates)
anti-virus program.
So far no problems!
