So, you're an actor, are you? ;)

I saw those "dude" adverts during my holiday in America earlier this year - how bloomin' annoying are they?! I found the Gateway "Mooo!" adverts more amusing....

So GoogleGuy, if you were the TV spokesperson for Google, what would be your catchy, annoying slogan?
1:23 pm on Oct 17, 2002 (gmt 0)
How about "With Google, you don't have to know #*$@!"-- heh. I think the Dell guy would be more appropriate then you GG for that kind of catch phrase, however :)
The commercial could be like, the Dell guy talking on the phone with a friend and the friend is asking all these crazy questions like "Whats the average number of quills on a porqupine" and stuff like that and the Dell guy is getting all the answers and his friend is like "But how'd you do that" and then the camera (which has been slowly rotating around the dell guy) finally stops over his shoulder as the Google logo comes into view-- "Dude, with Google you don't have to know #$*@!"
heh. Good one?
MABYE NOT :).

I HATE THE DELL DUDE!
I hate him with a passion. The title of the ads should be 'daddy is going to buy me a dell'
IN the early 90's I used to get my computers from raiding the dumpster from a nearby Westinghouse office building. When they upgraded their computers they would just toss out the old ones. Any ones that survived the fall into the dumpster got yanked out by me in the wee hours of the night and any cards in them that were better than the ones that i had got put into my main computer, a hulking frankenstein i had spray painted black and ran a BBS off of.
One day a friend of mine showed up, towing is snotty, rich cousin along. He wanted to see what i ran my bbs off of. He looked at it, gave it a disapproving sniff and said 'my dad's going to buy me a REAL computer'.
He is who I think of thenever i see the 'dell dude'.

Dude, You're Getting a PR0!

On a more effective note, how about just:
<insert first part of on-the-phone commercial, then>
Hey, it's all on Google.

The Dell Dude doing a google comercial somehow reminds me of the 'wheres the beef' lady doing that spaghetti comercial.

Hmm... "hiatus" implies that the campaign might be revived. A discouraging thought.

How funny is this! He was quoted
I'm more aware of not letting it go to my head
At least he is not letting all the 'fame' and 'fortune' go to his head! The last thing we need is the Dell guy getting a 'rock star' like ego.
<rant>When is Subway going to lose Jared? How did he get so famous? I don't think someone should be famous simply because they had the courage to say, 'Hold the mayo'.</rant>

In two years, nobody will know who "Stevie The Dell Kid" is, unless he pulls a Richard Dreyfuss and makes the transition to screen acting. (Dreyfuss was in a few acne cream commercials in the late '60s.)

I think GoogleDude has a nice ring to it.. I think a name change is in order :)
7:48 pm on Oct 17, 2002 (gmt 0)
Perhaps the Dell Dude will return as Dell Middle-aged Guy in the future...

Ah, the joys of not having a television in the house. For once it feels good not to know what anyone here is talking about. ;)
8:25 pm on Oct 17, 2002 (gmt 0)
Impressive, Finder! I never watch TV at home... yet I've accidentally seen Dell commercials at friend's houses, local bars, etc.
You're a lucky man. :)

I impressed with both of you. I watch TV as I work, it gives me somthing to yell at.

>Dude, You're Getting a PR0!
Very witty, agerhart.

Hey Finder, ever heard of TV over-the-web?
Its there, its everywhere .....
