Given all the events that pass through the Big Easy, The Jazz & Heritage Festival [nojazzfest.com] is one of the best times of year to be there. Now that I live across the country, it's my favorite time to go home. We'll be going down the 2nd Weekend May 4-8. Held every year on the last weekend of April and first weekend of May (April 28,29,30 & May 5,6,7 this year) it is in the middleground of a 1.5 mile horse racing track where for 6 days, 8 hours/day, 11 stages rock with every venue of music imaginable. Some Jazz, yes but alot of Heritage and just about every style of music under the sun by the day's end. Over 400 musicians typically perform during the week.
The Food, oh my! Every taste of New Orleans is available in the food court. Way to enriching to even try and describe. You have to be there.
This year's Headliners include: Fats Domino, Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews Band, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Lionel Richie, The Radiators, Keith Urban, Yolanda Adams, Herbie Hancock, Irma Thomas and the list goes on forever.....
There must be a few in this crowd that are Fest Sharks. Who has been, who's going this year?
Figure we could have a brew at the Fais Dos Dos Stage and call it a satellite 'Fest'Con.
