Google AdSense Forum

Made $18 yesterday!

 5:11 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

Yesterday was a record breaking day... my previous record was $14 something-- then I made 16, and yesterday, 18!
This month I'll be making 2.7 X what I made last month.
I give credit to this forum & its members for providing great tips and information that has helped me.

Someone said it's easier to get from $20/day to $50/day than from $8/day to $20/day. Has anyone experienced this? Is it true?

Well its easier because you now know how to make $18. So to make $36, just repeat what you did to get the first $18, and so forth.

 5:19 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

Congratulations. I hope to get there too.. my record so far is 11
Can you please share those tips that helped you this month?
or give links to them?
many thanks in advance.

Woohoo! Something to look forward to.

 5:34 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

I was making about $3.50/day before I came to this forum. I had no adsense experience, other than slapping the code on and hoping for clicks. I was happy with the roughly $100/month I was getting.

Then I started reading about other people making that much daily...

I read tips on here (they are all over, just spend a few days reading the forums, which is what I did).... and expiriment. That is really what has helped me; expirimenting with different ad layouts, # of ads, placement, colors, etc.

Also this month I've made a huge push in adding new content. I've added several new articles, features, etc.-- which have been bringing in a lot of visitors from searches.

where is your website located at?

 9:33 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

Biggest hint I can offer is one that I didn't believe until I tried it. Put the adsense code on every page (except where it would be prohibited, of course).

It's not that it is easier. You just suddenly realize, after lots of trial and error, what works for "your" site. Then you build more pages using that knowledge.

 9:39 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

Yes Dc,

I did that too as well as adding the horizontal adlinks at the top of almost all the pages. Income went into overdrive!

 9:42 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

nice post... well done uhwebs

 9:43 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

Speaking of record breaking days - it's only 2pm and I've already made a days income.

First time I ever got nervous and wrote to Google to verify I'm not getting malicious click traffic as my CTR jumped a couple of percentage points.

Hope this is real clicks as this kind of clicking would finish putting me in the UPS Club :)

 10:30 pm on Aug 30, 2005 (gmt 0)

Congratulations uhweb!

Like others have said, pay attention to what you,ve done that works for your site. Listen to what folks say here, apply what makes sense to you.

And keep on going!

 12:09 am on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

congrats Bill,

I am hot on your heels. :-)

 12:27 am on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

Yup, this is quite cool. I can see how my site has a lot more potential too. Just a question of updating & expirimenting. And working hard :)

Do you think this rate of growth is sustainable? For example, could I double my income every month (at least for a little while)?

...could I double my income every month (at least for a little while)?

Sure you could.

I would suggest, that if your site is making $18 (may be different tomorrow, who knows?) then it has been tweaked good enough, and I would say, don't mess with it anymore. (lest you mess something up)

Check your logs to see the keywords that visitors are finding you with. You may be surprised with another idea for a page. Start working on another page and add it. Keep adding more pages.

AND... finding related websites to exchange links would be a bonus too.

I would like some of the big rollers to commment on this one. Beleive me, they started the same way as you.

 3:03 am on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

Well, it is very difficult to maintain the earnings level with adsense. Smart pricing wil crush you.
Do not be surprised to see your earnings drop by 70% any time.

 3:06 am on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

That's inspiring Mack

Yup-- adding new content has been helping.
I added 2 new pages that brought in a ton of content-- because they were terms people search for :D

Link exchanges-- I've started that. Which is also helping the site. I haven't asked anyone for links yet, just set it up on my site and am taking links that others request.
I'm using Arelis.

Other MAJOR help:
I changed my PHPbb forums to have static URL, which made them Google friendly... which has also helped. Even though people are going to my forums, and the forums don't have ads (too few clicks to be worth it), the forums are linked all over to the main site with does show ads.

From what I've heard,

Content is King.

If you can put up 1000 of "the best of breed" articles, you will have a wage!

So go for it boys...

"So go for it boys... "

Or girls, as in my case .... :)

 4:53 am on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

"Content is King".

Agreed. But make sure it's original and not stolen.
Duplicate content page will be downgraded by Google.
Work hard and honestly.

Yes and double yes! I hate it when people steal my content... ugh!

Now, about duplicate content being downgraded... So what if I allow other websites to use my content if they link back? Or what if I accept content from other people on the condition that I link back?
Some of this has helped for me. While almost all my content is written by me & original, I do have a few pages that were submitted from others...

 12:26 pm on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

Cool uhwebs! I am on same path as yours. Started June - 50$, then july - 150 and this month almost 300. Thats almost 30% of my 8 hours job. By now I know what content pays more, how to place adverts that brings more CTR, and how to manage website in a way that changes can be done faster and lot more things.

By the way havent seen the looks of my first check yet but expected in couple of days.

I check the stats more then 20 times a day, mostly to check if there is some unusual activity.

I have a whole range of ideas now which might work well but no time to implement due to my current job. The often cases of innocent looking people scares me and thats the only reason I havent left my current job yet and gone fulltime on website development. But hope to see some better protection in short future.

Thanks to Big G and ww. I love you all

So what if I allow other websites to use my content if they link back?

Be careful with this. Google serps can't discern who has the original content. If the page using your content has a higher ranking, Google will assume they have the original content.

Changing your forum urls to static was a great idea! (Not an easy task, I know.) We don't put Adsense on forum either, they are too "chatty" in there, and click around alot.

Best of luck on your journey, you are definitely heading in the right direction. :)

 4:06 pm on Aug 31, 2005 (gmt 0)

My earnings are now on a standstill. $5 a day. Although it's maintaining I'm still working hard to increase it.

Is it true that it's harder to earn from $8 to $20 than $20-$50? How so? My site very well optimised already.

 3:29 am on Sep 1, 2005 (gmt 0)

One thing I've noticed is the site seems to grow exponentially.... I guess it's because the new visitors help bring in new visitors. And more visitors equal more clicks.
It seems like it's always hardest in the beginning, with a new site, to get the jump to where you're getting enough visitors to make adsense pay you nicely.

I've read the people talking about his experiences here and I'll try the horizontal links unit. Its fit the page design and is not agresssive.

My best day gets 5.05 dolares, my average is around 1.1$

My site have an average of 3000 uniques and 7200 hits per day (this is not equal of google Page impressions in report, please, its the public stats so you have have an idea of my traffic.
