Does bad CTR hurt PPC?
low ctr, now it looks like my $ per click is down?

I put my ad on my forums, which made my whole CTR drop way down.

Will Google pay you less per click if your CTR goes down? Today my average price per click dropped about .04 and I was wondering if this is because my forums brought my CTR down.

Do a search for "Smart Pricing"

And to answer your question more directly--there isn't complete agreement on this (there isn't on most subjects in this forum) but CTR does seem to have an impact on our EPC. How much of an impact seems to vary, but it seems to be one of the factors that goes into Smart Pricing--the discount given to advertisers for clicks that Google rates as less than perfect....

Smart pricing is based on anticipated conversion rates, and it's possible that forum ads in general don't convert as well as ads on editorial or sell pages.

It's also possible that the drop in EPC was coincidental, and that it would have happened with or without the forum ad. Why not take the ad block off your forum and see if your EPC goes back up?
