It could be a simple matter of supply and demand: i.e., you could be delivering more impressions than Google can deliver high-paying inventory for your keywords. That's a reasonable guess (though it's only a guess) in light of your recent traffic increase.

Many of us notice that the more visitors you get often it seems that lower CPM follows. I have a business related site and get about 50-60% of weekday visitors on the weekend. My CPM is usually 30-40% higher on the weekends with no other noticeable changes other than # of visitors.

Click Advanced Reports - Ad Performance and try changing the Show data by setting. There are two options: Individual Ad Unit and Page. If you change this item, your eCPM changes too (because it is computed differently). It might be the cause. John Carpenter

I've noticed a significant drop in eCPM since mid-June. I haven't experienced a big increase in traffic, in fact after Bourbon, I lost nearly half of my traffic. I ended up trimming some of my ppc advertising including filtering out sites from Adwords. After doing so I saw a return to normal eCPM levels, although my traffic volume was lower. This lasted for about a week and then again eCPM dropped by about half, literally overnight from one day to another. It happened around the first of July. I have recently recovered in the SERPs from Bourbon, and so my traffic levels are back to normal. Because of this I am seeing a recovery in earnings although my eCPM still remains significantly lower than normal. Not sure what the reason is, but like I said, it literally happend overnight from one day to another. It's hard to imagine that something like this would happen as a result of market dynamics alone.

My mornings have been generating large part of my daily revenue since this weekend. Normally mid-day to late evening would I start to see daily revenue in the $40s and $50s but for the past couple of days I'd find revenue in the $40s and $50s when I wake up and check my stats. This month has actually been a spike for me. For roughly two months I was averaging out about $40 to $60 a day. This month has been averaging out $70 to $95 a day.

thank you for responding! I think a big point in making good revenue here is about the ranking of the site in google SE. I`ve changed the links structure in the site and the ranking droped by 2 points. Since then revenue droped by 50%

I had my best day of the month yesterday, and today, easily the worst. It always seems to work that way. You work on your site, add some pages, get some solid traffic clicking on stuff, and then, BAM!, smart pricing or some other option grabs your earnings and drags them into the ditch. It's getting old, but there's no other option but to forge ahead. Some day, maybe, just maybe, my earnings will go up and stay up instead of crashing after a long steady rise.

My daily impressions are higher than they ever have been, but my earnings have dropped from some $4000/day to <$500/day since the 1st september. eCPM is horrifically low, and yet I've made absolutely no changes whatsoever... I wonder if possibly the advertisers have banned my site because it's costing them too much money? Or I've just worn them all dry? It's certainly making me wish I was in the US so I could use YPN :P

I noticed an uptick in August after whatever change they made then. It's held on into this month. My EPC is about the same, but a bit more CTR. It looks to me like those with one big site were hit hardest. But that's judging from those who post here, which is a tiny sample of the total. Who knows?

Make sure all pages of your website are showing more than one advertiser. One advertiser on a site targeted $1 CPM campaign can ruin your day.

Probably because profits have cropped back down. :)
