yea, just noticed that. But the first link will be ads by google which doesnt make good effect. Since if you positionin it horizontally, visitors are likely to click on the first link. And i am already running adlinks on every page vertically. Is adlinks still allowed for one ad unit only? No point switching to that style.

I don't see why the "Ads by Google" coming first is a problem. You also see it first on the vertical AdLinks, reading down. Make sure to choose a color for it that will either contrast strongly with your links, so that people will ignore it, or that makes it less noticeable... I am really pleased to see this new format. I have been experimenting with the vertical AdLinks and had reluctantly concluded that they didn't work well on most pages on my site, since my navigational elements run across the tops and bottoms of my pages. And what do I see? A format that should fit perfectly there. Or just about anywhere else.

Nice - I have just the place for those. Shame you're only allowed one AdLink unit per page though - I'd have to drop my existing ones first.

| Ah, after this thread, i changed the adlinks format of how i displayed. Thanks. My adlink was previously like this:- <td>Sponsored Links</td> <td>Adlink code</td> So the whole thing is like:- Sponsored Links ads by google keywords keywords keywords keywords Now i switched to :- <td>adlink code</td> I guess its better. And i switched from 120 to 160 because i found that 120 doesnt target much ads. If you are running 120, try switching to 160 because you will see more ads instead of blank spaces. Cheers.

I still don't like showing ads that point to more ads. Wonder why this type of format hasn't been adapted to normal adsense code? Granted you could only show one ad and probably couldn't get it much less than 20-25 pxs with the description, but still...

Just a oouple days ago I was talking to the AdSense rep chick on the phone and I suggested it. She said "You know, that is really a good idea. I'll see what I can do." I mean, it probably wasn't me that made this happen, but in my own little world I'll just pretend it was :)

Yeah, added it too, but one thing i gotta ask you guys in the add code theres seperaty stated the type of the banner(with the resolution of it) and the width n height of it. So i fuigered if my site's in the res of 800x600 i strech that ugly 728 and so i did, it didn't work to good with the "leaderboard" ad, but it did stretch the "link728x15" one. You think that's ok with the tos and all? [edit] wait, hmm brain just woke up and it's telling me that's it's just a script that goes to other google's scripts and there is the ad-frame created so if they wouldn't allow that, the scipt would just read the proper width from the banner name and block any invalid info. stupid stupid stupid <smashes head against the floor> .... <umm cookie under the bed mmmm> still the new links are great presents very nicely under or above a site

I am happy that they added hese options but I think that this is the first step down a slippery slope of blurring the lines between content and advertising for google. In my doomsday world I predict an intelliTEXT clone from google next year.

| I think that this is the first step down a slippery slope of blurring the lines between content and advertising for google. |
| I would have thought so too IF those well-blended Adlink URLs were directly leading to a paid click. However, considering that these new links point to a page that clearly states these are Google Ads, I (putting on my advertizer hat now) don't find these to be any different than the original Adlinks format. just my 0.02c... | In my doomsday world I predict an intelliTEXT clone from google next year. |
| agreed, if that happens, it will be real bad. If G were to release an intelliTEXT clone, there will be yet another spam industry that will crop up resulting in machine generated pages that are nothing but paragraphs and paragraphs of text made up of nothing but high paying keywords. That's something I would really be concerned about blowing my ad budget on..

bose I know what your saying but I disagree. I think these were specifically crafted to blend in with navigation. Also, I think that ad links in general follow that format.

"Are these just links with no descriptions and URLs? " They are one to two word keywords of what google thinks your page is about or related to.

MadMax101--changing the width or height of a format is changing the AdSense code, which you can't do under the TOS. Don't do it. You can fiddle with the code colors all you want--I sometimes make manual changes there, because it's easier than going back to the AdSense layout page, making new code, and cutting and pasting. But in doing that, I'm must replicating what I COULD do on the layout page. Changing any code you CAN'T change on the layout page could get you in trouble.
