hi everyone,

i have thousands of dynamic pages into which i've inserted adsense code. the code is inserted into a table cell.

when i tried to validate it using the w3 tool i got the following errors:

Line 41, column 51: required attribute "TYPE" not specified (explain...).
<td width="33%"><script language="JavaScript">
^
Line 50, column 63: required attribute "TYPE" not specified (explain...).
...tp://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

have i done something wrong here?

thanx in advance

You should add type="text/javascript" for proper validation.

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">

In full, to be validationally correct

In addition to killroy... in case this is XHTML, just drop the language attribute:

<script type="text/javascript">

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">

Is what I'm using. Validates to XHTML perfectly.

I'm having a similar problem with HTM 4.0, when I get the JS to validate, the ads won't show :-(

Because Google doesn't care about validation [validator.w3.org]?

PixelJuice,

Good point. However, I have been told they are trying to make everything XHTML compliant.

AdSense TOS forbid altering the code. I just took the "valid 4.01" button out of the site footer. (Kinda wonder now why I'd wanted the button there in the first place...)

Just so people know that you've taken the time to make your site as accessible to everyone as possible?

I'm not using adsense, but if I was, I would break the TOS and make the code valid. I couldn't really see Google having a problem with that.

In fact they said I could change it, they're working on a valid JS apparently.

Not quite sure what you are referring to here? Checked the code I downloaded this week and the following is the first line....<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">. So either goole has already changed or you clipped wrong?

You're right Visi, they have already changed it.
