I hope this is not repeated news but now that google has Urchin maybe it could be a feature of Adsense? Whats the opinion on this? Google already owns your website's stats ;-)

What do you mean? That you'll be allowed to put ads in your Urchin stats page? And who will view those ads -- the public? Do you mean that you will make public your Urchin stats in the hope that someone will click on the ads that you put there? Imagine that, we'll have more "my account got cancelled because I put the ads in my Urchin stats and since I'm the only one viewing it I clicked on it so I would earn from it."

Or do you mean that publishers running Adsense will be given free Urchin stats?

Yes what I meant was tthat publishers running Adsense will be given free Urchin stats... that'd be real cool IMHO. Maybe they already have plans to do just this.

I think G is going to use the technology of URCHIN to understand Adsense stats better. This is because URCHIN may have much better technology than G in web state analysis and G will use it to detect fraud better. And it also earn some revenue extra for G.

Google owns everything...they just haven't bought it yet...them and ol' Billy G. at MSN...

Between the behemoths, they could buy most of the countries in the world.

I would love to be able to use urchin but I'm not willing to spend anything since awstats is adequate.

However, if they need urchin beta testers, sign me up!

No they dont, I have Urchin 5 installed on my servers of which Google do not have access to these log files, what you are refering to is "urchin on demand" what is hosted on google servers

Urchin on Demand is a whole different ball game now it hosted by google and I will stick to the older version until it stops being supported

Urchin on Demand

Would be great if they offered it to AdWords or AdSense clients however at $199 per month it is out of reach for most small operators like us.

Hi,

I have urchin on my server, but I dont know for some reason urchin stats are not what adsense stats are.

urchin says 18,000+ imp
adsense says 12,000+ imp

my site has adsense on all the pages.

whats wrong?

Thanks

adsense says 12,000+ imp

iframes on your pages, adblockers, people with JavaScript disabled? could be a lot of things.
I'd say ask G though, because that seems like a substantial difference.

I presume you are American, excuse me if I am wrong, and please don't take this too seriously! I just finished looking at countless things on ebay where they only ship to USA as they seem to think the rest of the world is not important enough to bother with...

I realise you are joking (above) but lots of US citizens really believe that the US is about 90 percent of the world. One guy ask me when I was there, if I had "driven there" I kid you not! From the UK!

Your news / education / society etc is just so insular. In reality you are only 280 million bodies compared to 6 BILLION (not counting the US) in this world. And in Europe alone there are 3x the people that live in the US. And I spend much time buying US goods because they are about half the price that they would cost me here as your currency is so weak...

Admitedly about 2/3rds of the web traffic I get seems to be US traffic though, so in an internet sense they are pretty important!

Rant over...

Hi,

Does urchin/adsense also count impressions by bots? Just a thought if this could be a reason for difference in stats.
Is there anybody who uses urchin? please share your views.

Thanks

I am eager to see what Google does with Urchin, could be very exciting.

It is the lack of trade barriers between and among the many United States that makes this country great. It's the very thing that France and the Netherlands just tossed away. VAT your heart out EU. Trade barriers hurt everyone.

Trade barriers? Nothing stops them adding "UK" to the end of the address and charging extra postage. Tax details are my concern...

Urchin will log visits by robots unless you filter them out but adsense will not count any bots in the figures you are seeing from your login so that will more than likely be the reason why you are seeing such a large difference

Hi ncw164x,

Sorry this might a little OT but how can I filter bots visits counted by urchin.

Just a little hint will be enough for me.

Thanks once again.
