Nice. It's a blank page. Google needs better programmers that know how to make a web site work with Netscape.

Does anyone know if you can modify the search box to your liking? This will be very useful if I can change it to fit in with my sites.

I'm seeing a blank screen too. Maybe a system overload, too many people trying to access the site.

Yeah, I saw that I can change the results pages but there's no options to modify the actual search box though?

Go into your account, click on account information - programs, edit, and then you can "subscribe" to the websearch program.

Go to your account information and subscribe to the service. Couple things I really do not like: The Google Logo is clickable and goes to "Google.com" .. no doubt you do not get any credit for anything found if they search from there. You can't seem to change the size of the Search box. It's waaay to big for certain circumstances. Though I wonder if they'll let you change the HTML.. hmm! You have to activate Web Search first. When you login, click on the account information tab. Then click on the Products link. You will see: WebSearch plus AdSense for search Subscribed to this product: no Click on the Edit Information button to subscribe or activate it.

Does it say anything in the TOS about customizing the search box? Is it allowed?

can you check stats for search channels...I activated search, then added a search channel too to get the code but front page channels don't include my newly created search channel. will it be possible....presume so, but how?
|
blaze

msg:1405029 | 1:53 am on Jun 18, 2004 (gmt 0) |
Yeah, there are numerous problems with this a) you can't shorten or edit the Search Box HTML b) The Google logo targets "http://www.google.com" c) The search doesn't target a new window, it takes over the entire web page Yuck.

The options for customisation of the search pages is found in https://www.google.com/adsense/search-settings https://www.google.com/adsense/search-styles and the channels: https://www.google.com/adsense/search-channel-edit I've modified the search box to my liking now and if it's allowed, I'll deploy it out to the rest of my pages. This is a really great idea by Google, and from my first tests of it it works very well :)

I will wait until others report how this websearch thing is contributing to revenues. My current search program provides a detailed stat of what my users are looking for within my site -- an invaluable tool for guiding the editorial focus of my site. I hope G can ad something like this to let us know what our users are searching on our sites.
