Well we got our first payment today. Still no SSN or Tax ID on record. I wasn't expecting a check so quick. So I am assuming they will ask for it later.

Congrats, Lisa... Can't wait 'til next month when I can experience that ;)

I asked this in another thread, but no takers, so I'll ask here: was the check made out to a person, or a business? The sign-up form said "payee name" for the person, so my assumption is it's made out to "John Doe" rather than just Business, Inc., but I wanted to make sure before I get a check I can't deposit <g>.

They used the payee name. It was the name of the company.

I got mine too.

Here's a funny thing - when I was applying for AdSense,
there was a field for 'Company Name', and I don't have one, so I've just put 'Individual'.

When the check arrived, it's made out to
"Individual Andy Zaitsev" :)

I received mine sometime back and as I mentioned in a different post, Google is perhaps the only Internet company to send the payment so fast :)

Does anyone know Google's payment schedule? In other words, how much do they pay per click?

Thanks!

Something similiar happened to me with one of my affiliate programs.. The check came payable to: "I don't have a company"

When I went to cash it I had 3 other checks so I placed it at the back hoping that the guy at the bank wouldn't notice... and it worked :)

That is strange because using that forumla every business would get 'Business Name' Persons Name.

They used the payee name. It was the name of the company.

so they used only a name of the company on the check, without your first name second name?

I'm pretty sure they'll just make out the check to the name specified in the "business name" field (or whatever he exact name of that field might be). If you put your own name in there, the check should be made out to your name.

BTW, a couple of publishers have mentioned depositing checks made out to a business name or other name. I routinely get checks made out to my site name from several affiliate vendors that just can't get it right, and my bank has never refused to accept a check. (I endorse the checks "For deposit only" and deposit them to my account via an ATM, so the bank probably doesn't look at them as carefully as it would if I were trying to get cash.)

We are lucky in US but just like what other publishers said, it could turn out a different situation in foreign countries, especially those strictly control the foreign currency. First, they would check the accuracy of the "beneficiary", not "for deposit only" or other.

In the UK, strictly speaking, cheques can only be deposited in an account that has the beneficiary's name. This is supposed to prevent cashing of stolen cheques. But one cashier may accept something that another doesn't ...

It is worth having a business account if you are beginning to make some serious money.

I haven't received my first Adsense check yet (I joined a earlier this month) so I am waiting to see if it comes to my business name or personal name. Actually I have a non web related business (engineering consulting) so I have a d/b/a (certificate for doing business under a ficticous name) from the county, the bank has a copy, and I have an account that list my name d/b/a my company name. If you run your web site as a business it might be a good idea to register the name (often with the county clerks office in the US) and get the certificate in case banks don't take the checks.

Actually, years ago when I was the treasurer of a local chapter of a technical organization, we asked that checks for dinner meetings be made out to the correct legal name of the organization. Only a few were. Most were made out to some variation of the name, one was made out to "Mickey Mouse". The bank took them all without looking.

Under "account information" in your adsense account when does the "payment amount" usually show up? I began adsense in July 9 and have still yet to see an amount show up for July? Is this normal? Thanks for your answers in advance :)

Dave.

p.s. And I have surpassed the $100 mark in mid July

Payments for July will be sent sometime in August. From the AdSense FAQ:
Google will mail you a check within 30 days after the end of each calendar month that Google AdWords ads are running on your site if your earned balance is US $100 or more.

I think people got spoiled because payments for June were sent mid-July, but that was also for a partial month (AdSense began the 19th or 20th of June, I believe).

So you can expect to see a payment show up in your AdSense "Account Information" sometime in August. It is up to Google whether they want to send payments for July on August first, or wait until August 30th.

June payments showed up in the "Account Information" about a week before people actually received the checks. So we will still have a little bit more of a wait until we see checks for July. And I am sure someone will post on the AdSense board within minutes of payments showing up in the account information :)

Does it matter which day of July I started?
If I started say 11th July will I get the check paid from 11th till end of July or from 11th till now?

It is done per calendar month. Your payment for the month of July will be sent in August, as long as you made the minimum $100. Doesn't matter if you signed up the 1st, 11th, or 24th - payment will still be just for the month of July.

PolishGuy - your payment will be from July 11th through to the end of July.

I joined the program in mid-June and got my first check around July 25, which is extraordinary if you consider that most ad reps consider they're doing you a favor if they pay within 90 days.

As for the payee name, the check was made payable to <my name><br><my company>.

I run a moderately large (10,000+ pages) general-information site that gets about 20,000 visits per day. Although advertising is not -- or should I say was not -- our major source of revenue, Google has blown the dust out of the ledger. Our ad revenue has increased roughly 4000%.

The program is dynamite for a site that has content ranging from automobiles to zoo tickets. We were never able to deliver enough eyeballs in any given category with our own sales efforts. It's a great opportunity to concentrate on content. Hope it lasts.

the payments should come within 1 month after end of former month - it is not a mercy but duty.

lasts? It cannot last: there is more or less constant pool of advertisters but number of advertisement-takers (AdSense) is increasing significantly - there will be devaluation occuring.

Only the best content sites, that are able to attract daily new visitors will be able to survive...

Hmm, just as the net grows daily, so do the new business coming online and advertising.

I think it's not by coincidence that advertising revenuews are predicted to increase.

Therefore advertiser pools grow too, perhaps faster then AdSense sites, as new sites will initially be created for AdSnese only, but may turn into full blown businesses with their own adWord needs.

Polishguy...I do agree that at this moment in time the increase in Adsense publishers is far outweighing the increase in Adwords advertisers. However, I expect this program to come to equilibrium at some point in the future. While you are correct in assuming that CPC will likely go down as a result, I think you will still find that revenue from Adsense will continue to outdo revenue from many other ad-serving programs. With the constant influx of new internet users worldwide coming on board, some of these new users will likely use Adwords, thus driving up competition and potentially uping bid prices for specific keyphrases. However, EVEN if they do not push up bid prices, just by the shear volume of new Adwords participants, the CPC shouldn't drop off at the end of the day due to the big advertiser's budgets being exhausted. It will definately be interesting to see in, let's say, one years time (assuming adsense is around then) who prevails..increase in Adsense publishers, or increase in numbers of advertisers who use adwords. AND, if CPC/revenue does drop and web site owners do drop the program, it can only mean good things for me and my site as it will likely increase CPC for myself based on the fact that fewer sites will be showing the high CPC ads...anyway, enough verbal diahhrea out of me! :)

Dave.

<edit>Killroy, I just realised I reiterated some of the same points as you have in your post..sorry!</edit>
