So yesterdays earnings for you are gone, or you are having a slow day today?
If you are having a slow day today I would throw that into the "day to day fluctuations" bin.
9:41 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
REALLY slow. As in, I've never made so little money from adsense. It's the extreme and the coincidental timing with channels that has me concerned.
9:49 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
but does it show a normal amount of *page views* for the day (but just low income?)
9:53 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
There definitely is a disturbance in the force. The Jedi network might be lagged, even while seemingly showing updated data. Iím considering removing the channel line of code, but Iím guessing server lag is causing this.
9:59 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
If there is a disturbance in the force, it is not affecting those of us that have not done anything to our code. The numbers are barely an hour or two behind the ones shown by the independent tracking script.
10:01 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
A bit more info:
I have had time to put the channel code only on one domain of three domains. My daily revenue is down about the amount that I am guessing comes from that one domain.
Perhaps there is a lag for stats to show up after the code is put on. Perhaps it is a two-day lag?
10:06 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
Aren't channeled stats delayed 48 hours?
That could be the problem.
10:08 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I've been using channels, and while stats seem to be slightly behind, it is nothing out of the ordinary.
10:33 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I also activated channels very late last night and am seeing a massive drop in EPC today (about half of normal)!
Something is definitely wrong here. My understanding is that only when viewing channel data would numbers be delayed up to two days and that normal reporting would not be delayed.
Impressions and CTR are both within normal ranges, just the EPC is affected. It was like throwing a switch. The EPC all this month and last was fairly stable.
Anyone else seeing this who has activated channels?
10:39 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I turned channels on everywhere. My overnight (I'm in Australia) CTR and EPC are both right at the bottom end of what I'd consider normal.
10:40 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I added channels to all sites and result is completely normal for today so far.
10:43 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
Our CTR and income are normal after the change today.
11:01 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
Hmmm. At best it seems to be very uneven.
Perhaps I won't slit my wrist today.
11:10 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I have activated channels and my EPC is down by about 25%. It has NEVER been this low...
My EPC has always been constant for months and now it drops 25%.....
11:18 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I added the channel code to my sites this morning. The reports show a normal amount of impressions but with zero clicks. I hope it is just running lopsidedly behind.
11:19 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
Just FYI: I've installed channels this morning and so far it's business as usual, even probably on the higher side of usual.
11:28 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
I've activated channels and I would say I'm on the higher side of usual as well. Still too early to tell.
11:41 pm on Mar 19, 2004 (gmt 0)
Just to clarify, my impressions are down about 25% (but there's a lot of day left) while my clicks are down about 90%.
So maybe clicks and money are just not updating as quickly as impressions. Hopefully for a bunch of us. I've never observed such a large disparity before but, well, life goes on.
(trying to go back to a monthly perspective.)

I tried the new adsense channel reporting and could get NO channel reports, so I asked Google about it..
This and this is what they said:
When you're viewing channel reports, your channel data is delayed for 2 days before appearing in your reports. This allows the system enough time to synchronize data across all channels, as well as perform preliminary audits on clicks and earnings to ensure accuracy. These 2 days will show 'No data available' if included in your channel reports.
Read carefully... is it possible this "auditing" is messing things up?

Unless Jenstar has something different to offer I say wait for the stats to update. The aggregate data should be in line with previous days unless you incorrectly cut and pasted the new code....

You may not have noticed the disturbance, but I have and it is strong! I have not done anything different with my account, yet I have never had such a bad day, everything is down.
I have noticed stats drop every time checks are sent, but usually go back to normal the next day. This time, they have continued to drop ever since payment was sent.
Just my two cents.

I did not know JenStar worked for Google in the Adsense department............

I have talked with numerous publishers who began using the channels within hours of it being launched, and are not noticing anything unusual in terms of the days totals. One publisher beat her previous best-day-total by 2pm PST.
It could also be a situation similar to No data available [webmasterworld.com] problem that publishers have been having this month.
I am not concerned that using channels = significant drop in income. However, if anyone is concerned about it, just drop a line to email@example.com

No, I don't, LOL. But by the Google rep's words, I am their most knowledgeable publisher.
12:50 am on Mar 20, 2004 (gmt 0)
care to share that knowledge! "I am their most knowledgeable publisher"
Possibly. "How to get people to click on my AD... NOW" :)
12:53 am on Mar 20, 2004 (gmt 0)
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I setup a few channels and now my aggregated totals are WAY down.
I think the two are linked somehow..
12:55 am on Mar 20, 2004 (gmt 0)
I don't understand how ANYONE knows whether they are having a slow adsense day, when the reporting intervals during the day seem to vary so much. It's usually not till about 6 p.m. (central time) before I can tell how the day is shaping up.
4:05 am on Mar 20, 2004 (gmt 0)
I'm working on Australian time here (3pm Saturday).
Due to our timezone difference, final stats for a 'day' are revealed around 6.30pm. It is now 3pm and while my clicks are exactly normal, I am experiencing approx. 50% drop in revenue figures, in a very consistant week.
I changed to 'channels' approx. 12 hours ago.
4:11 am on Mar 20, 2004 (gmt 0)
I'm glad I'm not the only one at least.... I had the best day in a month yesterday. I switched most of a site, 9000 pages, to channels overnight and am now having the worst day in over a month. Impressions are good but EPC is way, way down.
I'm curious as to the timing or if anyone changes it back (away from channel changes) and if anything changes again. I was about to consider changing code back to see what was happening until I found this thread.

Are you using alternate ads with links to pictures?
If you are that could likely be your problem. If they aren't set up right they will show a blank space for your ads across your site. Have you checked to see if the ads are actually running across your entire site?
