|Using Adsense links|
but not in the boxes...
| 12:27 pm on Jul 18, 2003 (gmt 0)|
Somebody I work with is convinced that you are able to rip links out from the JS that Google supply for serving their ads and then add these links to different parts of your site.
I'm 100% that this goes against their TOS, but can't find the part that mentions this.
Can someone confirm this is not allowed and is a very bad idea?

From the Progam Policies Page:
Ad Code Modification
The AdSense ad code must be pasted, without modification, into websites.

thats a massive no no!

I distinctively remember reading it's not allowed, you aren't allowed to modifiy it in ANY way.

Why would google want people to show their links without the "Ads by Google" link and with their own branding? To a significant extent that is what they are paying publishers for.
I sometimes do wonder whether unleashing Adsense to a hungry horde of SEOs who immediately start thinking of ways to game the system is that sensible! (... joke guys!...)
Reality is it's easier to monitor adsense publishers than all pages on the web due to size reasons as well as all the info they have on you from their code. Read the TOS, this isn't amateur SEO hour.

Thanks chaps. The person in question wouldn't take my word for this, which is why I made this post. I knew what the answer would be. Sigh.
