Next Monday is "Memorial Day" in the US also. Probably will be a horrible day for all online business.
5:15 pm on May 24, 2006 (gmt 0)
And Monday 29th May is also the Spring Bank Holiday in the UK.
5:19 pm on May 24, 2006 (gmt 0)
Right, this will be the official thread for posting all Earth holidays. Also highly rated TV shows (e.g. Eurovision) which might cause our earnings to dip slightly for several hours.

I was not aware of that holiday in Germany. I'm from Germany but live mostly in the US so I totally forgot about it. Wow, my traffic (usually 50% English 50% German) is wayyyy down, down, down today. :(
I'm definitely having my worst day this month after a really great day yesterday (third best day ever).
I hope the holiday is the reason, why.
I don't like rodeo
7:12 pm on May 24, 2006 (gmt 0)
The stats are not only like at a Saturday
They are even very similar to the worst Saturday of the month.
9:24 pm on May 24, 2006 (gmt 0)
I'm also in Germany and traffic is today REALLY down!
Usually I have at this hour around 5000 PI's, at the moment only around 2100! That will be my lowest day for months.
I guess that's because of that stupid holiday tomorrow here :(
9:30 pm on May 24, 2006 (gmt 0)
Btw: I forgot to mention that a lot of people will travel around the next days - since Thursdays is a holiday, many will take Friday off to have a long weekend.
12:35 am on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
I am from Germany too, with about 60% of all visitors are German and I don't like the stats today either.
3:50 am on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
well, my stats are awesome! you just have the wrong topic ;) mine is leisure planning. can't get enough of those lazy pre-holidays when everyone is looking online how to spend their spare time offline. aah, and now comes "pfingsten".. :)
10:21 am on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
I'm sharing moTi's situation. Holidays (and Sundays) are always my best days!
Today could become (also due to bad weather in Germany) my best day so far...
11:28 am on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
Outdoor webcams work better with bad weather? That really surprises me ...
BTW, welcome to webmasterworld!
12:02 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
I don't get it. What were we all talking about here? If today is the mentioned holiday in Germany (Christi Himmelfahrt), then why did we complain about low earnings yesterday and not today? Today, the feared holiday, seems to be a very solid day so far with earnings way above average for the time of the day.
Let's rest and take a look at what's going on:
Google's algorithm lately seems to be in the rollercoaster mood. That's all. Period. And we are simply all in denial and try to find explanations for our bad days, right?
I'm going to see my shrink now. :)
12:05 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
first of all, thanks for the welcome!
Outdoor webcams perform very well with bad weather - people need to know where it's better! ;)
But I guess the main reason is that many people rather spend their time being online than being out in the rain...
12:08 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
Some of you guys have been in this for a long time now. Are you really still fascinated that people get off their computers? ;)
12:34 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
I don't get it. What were we all talking about here?
Same reason why Saturday is the worst day of the week.
People have to go shoping for the weekend.
In this month, 1st and 2nd place by earnings are held by Sundays. At Sunday, shops are closed, nobody can go shoping, people have enough time to surf.
So it's not the holiday, it's the last day where You can shop before the holiday, which brings terrible statistics.
12:40 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
Oh well, I guess you can go out shopping then too. Look at the bright side.
1:06 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
Just in case you do not know, most European countries do not have "open all hour" shops, or even extended evening hours, and many do not open on Sundays whatsoever except in tourist areas.
And they wonder just why the Net shops are taking over?
Time for another discussion eh? Last figure I saw was predicting 10% of all retail sales soon.
1:25 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
and many do not open on Sundays whatsoever except in tourist areas.
Only shops in gasoline stations or other special shops have open.
But it's easy 3 times more expensive than a normal shop.

Well, I guess you can go the beach (In Germany?). My point was, it's hard to ignore mass human actions as a web marketer.
Once you've been in the business for awhile, you end up scheduling your free time at the same times other people do.
The Trend if your Friend. I'm almost sure this month will be sputtering out hard. We've had a ton of changes in the search index, the month is running out of days. There's a long weekend in the US and a advertisers might be burnt out from bad press concerning clickbots, ad frauds, etc.
As greedy as I am, I might have to admit the stats are heading for a tanking. ;)
3:53 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
Well, I guess you can go the beach (In Germany?).
Aha...definitely not European are you:-))
Only in the north are there beaches however there are some very nice lakes and mountians etc. For Bavarians the Italian beaches are closer for driving.
3:59 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)
Maybe the German popluation are taking a long extended break away from it all due to the fact they hear Roonie's foot is healed :)
6:05 pm on May 25, 2006 (gmt 0)

To cold. Even Adria would be just right now to cold.
7:09 pm on May 26, 2006 (gmt 0)
It looks like the holiday weekend has kicked in!
Anyone else notice much fewer visitors today, Friday May 26th?
7:12 pm on May 26, 2006 (gmt 0)
Yes, I think I'm seeing slightly lower traffic than I'd expect, even for a Friday.
This may be the Internet's way of telling me to go home and open a beer. Oh, whoops, don't have any left! B^>
7:16 pm on May 26, 2006 (gmt 0)
Yep, I'm going to log-off, take the Husky for a walk and then hit a couple of nice bottles of Ruddles County awaiting me in the fridge:-)
7:26 pm on May 26, 2006 (gmt 0)
Just so long as your Husky is a dog, and not the hardened laptop...
10:07 am on May 27, 2006 (gmt 0)
Did anybody else notice a change in 24th May earnings?
The day ended as the weakest day in May.
When I looked today in the morning on the monthly stats, there had been a big change in the May 24th stats.
Clicks: 35% more
Earnings: 32% more
10:30 am on May 27, 2006 (gmt 0)
Did anybody else notice a change in 24th May earnings?
Nope, completely normal for me. Even yesterday, Friday, which was looking as though it may not be a very good day ended up normal!
I've come to the conclusion I know nothing, and I haven't known that for very long:-)
