Refreshing old site

Hello folks. First off let me say I've been lurking here a while and have really learned a lot from your collective wisdom. So thank you all.

Now I have a specific question for you.

I run two websites. One -- the one I'm currently concerned about -- is a very small ecommerce site that limps along but probably has reached the limit of its market. It's several years old and has decent PR for its tiny niche.

Now the question. Over the years I have added to that site about 100 articles I have written that are broadly but not specifically related to the widgets being sold. Let's say the articles are about historical widget-makers. The articles draw some SE traffic, but not a huge amount. I don't believe they have ever added to my widget sales.

A couple years ago I Adsensed the whole thing and have been collecting my hosting costs, but no more.

OK, the question: Would it make any financial sense to remove those 100 articles from the ecommerce site and set them up as a separate content/Adsense site? In other words, might I get more Adsense revenue from a site that was strictly on historical widgetry?

On the whole I'm inclined to do this but wonder about any unexpected tricks/traps.

Thanks
