mine too, it's disaster, I don't know what's happening. My traffic is up and earnings significantly down.
12:22 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
My earnings are right on target, generally a little higher.
12:25 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Thats right Toldan - my traffic today has been higher too. I'm hoping the earnings will suddenly take a jump before the close of day.
12:28 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
my lowest earnings of the month = today!
12:30 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
I know its too early to say this as even the day is not over yet - but my earnings are way too low compared to my average. Infact the lowest in the last 3 months. They are down by 50% compared to my average weekday earnings.
Anyone else notice this today!
Seeing the same thing today. ECPM down the toilet. Just when you think it can't get any lower you wake up to find your earnings are slushed by yet another 50% off record lows.
1:50 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
I'm noticing the 40% decrease in ECPM and earnings with traffic being better then normal. It started this Tuesday. I also noticed that number of ads shown was different. Usually I have 2 ads in a 336x280 block, but recently I saw 1 or 4.
However I think it could be attributed to advertisers running out of budget after Easter campaigns.
1:52 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
It's been a perfectly normal day for me (just a tiny bit better than average for a Thursday).
1:58 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Still trending downward. Shaping up to be worse day ever and my traffic is up also.
Google met and exceeded earnings today and their stock is up.
2:00 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Yesterday was a pretty bad day for me. Today looks so-so.
2:04 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
I'm seeing the same thing across all my sites. Traffic is normal, adsense clicks are way down.
2:06 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Yesterday near record day.
Today, eCPM is good but clicks are way down. Hoping for a click dump.
2:12 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Same for me yesterday. I had my worst day in a few months. April overall has also been seen the worst earnings in months.
4:17 am on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Yes, today earnings are down. Page eCPM is down almost 1/3rd. But traffic is on par with other days, has the potential to be even slightly higher.
Last Thursday also tanked, but traffic was down 1/4, which I assumed was people leaving for Good Friday early, and so on.
Today puts us lower than most of our weekend days. Strange, as we've been adding new content significantly over the past two weeks. Wondered if that had anything to do with it.
1:44 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Same seen here. eCPM at its lowest ever yesterday, down 1/3rd.
2:07 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
I actually had a good day yesterday and today seems pretty good when compared with the gradual decline I have witnessed in my earnings over the last few months.
I did make some changes yesterday that might have made a difference. I started to reduce ads on pages from 2 down to 1, having read some advice on this forum I thought there can be no harm as things seemed to be on a nose dive anyway. As a result earnings seem to be healthier and I feel better about the look of my pages.
2:59 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
yesterday was my worst day in THREE MONTHS!
3:13 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Are we going to have a thread like this every day of the year?
One day doesn't represent a trend. One week doesn't represent a trend. If you're going to get into a panic every time your AdSense numbers take a dip, forget AdSense (and self-employment) and get a day job.
3:39 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
It was my first almost "normal" day in 45 days or so. I've been having the worst 45 days since I started AS in 2004.
In fact, it has been so bad that I am beginning to suspect that Google is not properly counting clicks as my CPM has been decimated with no material changes to my site.
Google must have reshuffled the deck. For you who are now on the "wrong" side, my sympathies. As for me, I hate seeing losing thousands a month, and now see a glimmer of hope.
3:52 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Are we going to have a thread like this every day of the year?
EFV, we know that your account always operates well.
But please try to understand that the rest of us aren't as perfect as yourself.
My earnings were just fine yesterday and today looks on track, but if you're having a problem I think threads like this offer some solace and serve a good purpose.
3:53 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Yeah, I think its legitimate to bring things like this up. See if we can see any trends or suggestions why things might be happening. It's a big system, incredibly complex - who's to say there isn't a bug here or there, or problems, etc. Or maybe people are looking to see if its a trend regarding some "SmartPricing" change or something. And so on.
For what its worth, we ended up just under the daily average, but then we made some late day changes to "related information" looks to have increased page views 20% beyond normal. It's still strange that the day WAS under average, because M-Thur with our site doesn't normally do that. And the CPM's were the lowest of the month.
If anything this is a testament to how steady our sites usually are.
Getting back: Today CPM's are now more than DOUBLE yesterday's, and into the range we saw last month, our best month ever.
Kind of makes you wonder if several advertisers ran out yesterday, and recharged their accounts today? Or specifically pulled some ads on Thursday, because looking back, that was the 3rd or 4th weak Thursday in a row (the others being not that weak, but lower than expected.)
4:31 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
hdpt00 and andrea99, your sarcasm doesn't change the fact that one day isn't a trend. Every day of the year, someone could come here and start a "My earnings are way low today" thread; some members would respond with "Yes, my earnings are down, too," and others would say "No, mine are up."
AdSense is an auction-based system with huge numbers of publishers and advertisers. Spikes and dips are inevitable, and different publishers will experience spikes and dips of different amounts on different days. It simply isn't reasonable to draw general conclusions from a tiny sample of publishers at any one point in time.
4:44 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Since it's not a good to take a small sample people tend to go to forums to see if their wee sample is representative..
Anyway. Wednesday highest in months [or what used to be normal], now back to small sums. Within a week I had the highest and lowest maximum within the last 4 months. Since G traffic is jumping around like mad no idea really if it is adaptive smartpricing. ECPM sinking.
Interestingly enough english server is stable and has increasing traffic. Both servers concepts are the same just on the falling server there is more work done. :\
5:12 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
There is something odd: everytime there are a spate of threads like these, they always seem to come on the cusp of an equal number of "the cost of minimum clicks went up" threads in the Adwords forum.
So... advertisers are complaining that ad costs are going up per click, and at the same time publishers are complaining that their earnings are declining, despite stable or increased traffic?!
I have noticed a decline since mid April, but this is likely normal with the week of Easter. I am going to give it a few weeks -- it will likely go back to "normal". (Maybe the only thing which is normal is change.)
5:37 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
It's Spring Break in most of the U.S., guys.
I, for one, have a site with a larger young audience, so I'm not freaking out (yet). But my earnings were down this week as well.
5:58 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
It's Spring Break in most of the U.S
While some schools have spring break this week most of them did it the week before.
9:28 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
europe: you need to get off your high-horse and go write some travel content. I and a lot of others are getting tired of your constant defense and jumping in on every thread. Sit back and let others complain every once in a while, no need to comment.
hdpt00, LOL you took the words right out of mouth.
Say something wrong about Google and be sure to hear from the travel author guy.
Gee....makes one wounder doesn’t it?
1) Large parcel of GOOG?
2) Under cover G rep?
3) Someone with nothing better to do?
4) OR all of the above ;)
9:36 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
I'll go with "D"..
Anyway I'm seeing lower rev since Thurs as well.... same traffic + CTR just lower eCPM.
9:39 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Well, I was going to suggest that the OP's fall in income might be due to smartpricing wreaking vengeance on her for creating an MFA for a day, and I was also going to suggest that EFV has a point.
But as you will all shout at me I'll keep my gob shut ;)
And just for the record, my stats are bang on average. Had a dip over Easter as expected, but otherwise nothing unusual.
9:48 pm on Apr 21, 2006 (gmt 0)
Funny David! I guess of all the MFA owners , I was the one targetted :)
There is no doubt that EFV has a point. So how long is it considered NORMAL to wait before pushing on the panic button.
