Updated AdSense FAQ
Nothing too big this time

 3:11 am on Dec 19, 2003 (gmt 0)

Changes have also been made to the faq with the new languages launch.

2. How does Google target ads to my website?
Our technology can also determine the primary language of a page. If your content is in English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish, AdSense will target ads in the appropriate language to your content. In addition, AdWords ads are geotargeted to your visitor's location.

Slight modification to a clause referring to legal authorization issue.
4. Can I show ads on more than one site?
However, you may only place the AdSense ad code on sites that comply with our program policies and that you own or are legally authorized to act on behalf of for the purposes of Google AdSense.

For cancelling an AdSense account, they have updated the final payment terms. This was an issue we had discussed here previously, as it had been unclear to publishers.
You'll receive your final payment from us within 30 days after the end of the calendar month
It previously made no mention of the 30 days.

Under 8. How do you prevent click and page impression spam? they removed a duplicate clause I had mentioned after the last FAQ update.

The following was added/modified under 4. Are non-English websites eligible for Google AdSense?
Applications for participation in the program can be for sites with content primarily in English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish. You can select your site’s primary language during the application process. If you’re approved, AdSense will serve relevant ads to your pages in the appropriate language, even if your site contains multiple supported languages.

Currently, publisher account pages and email support are only available in English, and all payments are made in US dollars. We’re working to introduce expanded language and payment support in the future.

This actually contradicts the email they sent, which included the specific email support addresses for each of the new support languages.

Under 1. How much will I earn through this program? they have removed the clause "average earnings per click" which got publisher's excited after the last FAQ update, thinking new and improved stats would be on the way.

Under 2. Does Google have to collect my tax information?
They have made it clearer where to access the tax information section in the AdSense account.

Under 5. When do I need to submit my tax information?
Google began collecting tax information from all publishers on November 13, 2003. New publishers after this date must submit their tax information through the 'Tax information' page of their publisher account before any payments can be sent to them. If tax forms have not been submitted, you will still be able to access your publisher account, show ads, and register earnings.

This was updated since the previous version still had the November 30, 2003 deadline for tax information to be submitted.

Under 2. How do I know which ad layout works best on my site? they added
In the meantime, please read our Tips page for help with optimizing your pages for maximum AdSense revenue

I suspect this was likely added due to many emails asking how to choose a layout.

Nothing major was added/changed this time around, not as in previous FAQ revisions.

Thank you for posting this. I appreciate the fact that there is someone who is actually keeping track of these changes and letting the rest of us know what has changed.

Many thanks.

Yea, thanks. Nothing worse than going through a dry document like that. You must know that puppy inside and out.

>>Applications for participation in the program can be for sites with content primarily in English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish<<

Based on today's email, I'm guessing Japanese will soon be added to the above FAQ?

If they'd add Russian to the list, I could have a use for that. Just hope they wouldn't pay in rubles, that would suck.

whish they would pay in pounds or euros for everything - better than the dollar at the moment
