Hi all...

Wanted to post part of the message I received back from Google regarding payments for those interested:

<Woz> Apparently there are slight delays for October payments as a result of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday.</Woz>

So hopefully we'll all have our checks soon and in time for the holidays :-)

Weird... you are the only one to receive this message. I'm also an Adsense partner but haven't received my payment delay explanation.

I believe pelican sent them an email to enquire, since the post says the message "received back" from Google.

yes indeed Jenstar, I did email them....I'm guessing a delay of maybe 2-3 days since that's about the length of the holiday....let's keep our fingers crossed :-)

Thanks pelican for letting us know.

However i am surprised that G could not have put this up in the Stats somewhere when logging into your Adsense Account and letting everyone know that there is a delay with payments this month because of the holidays etc.

How hard would have that been? ummmm!

Okay, is it just me, or is this the funniest post ever? And, honestly, it's funny ... because it's true.

When we submitted the tax information. The confirmation page did say that existing subscribers can expect delays this month.

you know, I got the same email..... irritated me to no end.

As smart as they are, I would think they would know how to read a calender by now... mine had that holiday printed on the page for a year now. And why do they have to wait until the very last day of their 30 day grace period to pay? why not send them out earlier then? I know their terms are completely one sided, but I say this is breach of contract and bad business. lame.

One thing to consider - Google was giving publishers until November 30th to submit tax information - if it was sent a day later, they would not receive their October earnings check. So from this, it sounds as though they might have done the mass check printing first thing Monday morning (December 1st) and started mailing them immediately.

I don't think anyone has to worry about not receiving their checks - and don't forget that people have had their checks in hand before the payments showed up in the account payment history. So the checks could be well on their way, even though it doesn't show up in the accounts yet.

And a final thing to remember - right now, the post office is dealing with the largest mail volume of the year, so it can be expected that mail might take an extra day or two to get from Point A to Point B.

Remember that the US Snail Service is getting rather busy this time of year. And I wouldn't count on next month's checks being right on time. The letter carriers will be suffering from warn out feet and moving slower.

If you think about it waiting till after the rush causes less checks to get lost, it was a good idea even if you don't agree with why.

I wouldn't go that far, but I think even the people at Google are entitled to nice & peaceful holiday.

From George Reyes' (Google's CFO) perspective, every day that he delays sending the checks is another day that he collects interest on the money. There is no incentive for Google to send checks early, and plenty of incentive to wait until the last possible day.

The Gospel According to Google says: "We will mail you a check for your account balance within 30 days of the end of every calendar month that your earnings amount to $100 or more".

That seems unambiguos enough.

I don't doubt for a minute that Google will come through with the payment sooner or later, but I am a teeny bit dissapointed that they haven't dropped me a courtious note to let me know the payment is/will be a bit late this month.

Or maybe the check has been sent, just someone hasn't gotten around to updating the Payment history page yet... hmmmm, better check the mail again just in case. :)

does it mean that checks for October 2003 should arrive by the end of November 2003?

Strange because I haven't got mine yet and we have arleady December (more than 30 days). I don't even have it marked as "sent" in the control panel of AdSense!

Can anybody tell when approx. I can expect the check for October to arrive to me (to Europe).

No it says they will mail it on or before Dec 1st. Since it is now Dec. 03, the check should be in the mail. When you get it depends on how long it takes for the mail to get to you.

What it says in the control panel doesn't really mean all that much when it comes to receiving checks. People received their checks before it ever showed up in the control panel.

Until it either shows up in the control panel, or people start receiving them, there is not really anything we can do to make the process quicker - unless you have forgotten to submit your tax information.

I'll wait until the 15th, then send a past-due hard copy invoice to their accounts payable department.

If that's the case, then why don't they delay the checks EVERY month? Or do you think they're using the holiday season as a cop-out?

The way I see it is, if it's a small check then it's just a waste of time to post complaints about a trivial delay. If it's a big check, then get down on your knees & thank God AdSense exists. And that they don't pay net 90. AND that there's no chance they will become insolvent between now and the time you cash your check.

I was referring to the check from August and September.
