IE scripting flaws pose threat to AdSense
Active Scripting and AdSense

A recent article [webmasterworld.com] on The Register highlights;

"A set of five unpatched scripting vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer creates a mechanism for hackers to compromise targeted PCs."

They anticipate a lack-lustre response from Microsoft and advise the following;

"...users can protect themselves against the flaws by disabling Active Scripting..."

This, of course, kills AdSense ads and prevents them from appearing on the browser.

I don't think disabling Active Scripting stops the javascript does it? Isn't Active Scripting different than Javascript? I couldn't even find "Active Scripting" on IE Tools/Internet Options, maybe I missed it.

How many users are going to even know about the potential problem, let alone disable Active Scripting?

Except in categories that are aimed at hardcore techies, I can't see this affecting AdSense ads at all.

Nonetheless, scripting will be disabled more and more by default in future. Saw a thread in another WebmasterWorld forum that mentioned the next version of IE 6 will have Javascript disabled by default ...

I would love to see Adsense implemented as an IFRAME or as an include of some sort.
