After reading this thread I was quite disappointed not to have got one here in the UK yet.... then it dawned on me that my address for adsense was set to my OLD address... I just wonder if somewhere, a parcel from google is floating around a DHL office.... :(

After reading this thread it reinforces my belief that acknolwedgement in the form of a gift, no matter what it is helps any corporation. We did not send anything out this year but I am already planning something for next. Just in keeping with this thread the gift this year sounds very nice, at least nobody will have to learn how to turn it off! What I would like to know is if in 6 months you are still using the gifts and if so what or which?

I use my google clock every day....it makes a perfect missile, especially when loaded with old batteries that it guzzled within 2 hours.....perfect for throwing at the damn grey squirrels that have over-run my garden here in southern england. <snip> [edited by: martinibuster at 6:14 pm (utc) on Dec. 15, 2005] [edit reason] No URLS per tos. Thanks. ;) [/edit]

I wonder if only those who check their stats using a laptop qualify...

| Vincevincevince, I have a laptop, but don't use it to log in at Google and got the gift. This is the first I have ever got from Google, so maybe they just randomly pick a address and send it.

I got mine yesterday. Thanks google! I am in the "UPS" club, and only use adsense (not an adword customer).

Maybe Google will be sending out gifts of varying value based on yearly earnings, for instance, 1. Over 10k/month - USB Goodies Bag 2. Over 1k/Month - Christmas Card 3. Under 1k/Month - Lump of Coal

Fed Ex Santa Came to my house bearing a Google Gift...They Love Me....They Really Love Me! Thank you Google! Yesterday I was thinking how thoughtful it was to send your members a gift...now I feel honored that I was thought of to receive one!

I wonder if the qualifications for this years gift are the same as last year. If this is the case we will have a good idea as to who qualifies.

The qualifications are simple. Google searches for your name on WebmasterWorld and other forums, and uses a highly specialized algorithm that rates your posts as either positive (+1), neutral (0), or negative (-1) towards Google. Those with the highest scores receive gifts. I'm still trying to determine where the cutoff off is. I'll report back when I find out.

This thread is getting silly "nothing in the UK yet" ....of course not! they only started receiving them in california yesterday....do you think they are going to waste money sending a free gift via overnight international parcel post to get to us brits? Heart and Liver organs take longer ;) I swear sometimes reading this forum is like visiting a room full of screaming spoilt brats all shrieking "he has it, i want it now, gimme gimme gimme i've been waiting ten minutes" let's all chill out and have a Happy Holiday ;) ( yes, i know only the minority match my description above)

After receiving "8 tips to Optimize AdSense" last year as my Holiday Gift from Google, I assumed that I had a PR1 (PresentRank of 1). This year, I was hoping to get to PR2, but so far... nothing. :sniffle: I wanna Google Present! PLEASE SantaGoogle, send me a gift! *<[:-) <---- SantaGoogle's Helper

Based on 21_blue's post, I have revised my understanding of the Google Gift algorithm. Clearly, you receive bonus points for poetry. Something to keep in mind for '06. (I hope we don't start getting poetry spam on WebmasterWorld.)

Shouldn't that be GoogleSanta can't find your address because Google Earth is down? Remember, Google is bigger than both of those entities, and so should come first :P (*not kissing up in the hopes of a present at all*)

Not that we'd expect Google to be egalitarian or anything like that, only the wealthiest get the goodies, status quo. However, I'm thinking they only give gifts to people that don't openly question their motives and remain courteous wallflowers. That 2006 New Years card could've been an eCard instead they killed a tree, choked the air with gas fumes hauling it around, and now it's LANDFILL. Do No Evil, HA! Besides, the USPS doesn't need the money anyway as they've been all but replaced by UPS and FEDEX and all they do is deliver SPAM (aka JUNKMAIL) these days. | For example. IncrediBILL won't get a gift because his WW postcount grew too fast |
| How amusing. Now run along and play you little scamp.
