Here I will reveal the secret behind channels and why they really excist.

Your channel will help you discover what part of your site earns you your revenue, what page, what banner type.. etc Take notice of this.

Adsense sorts adverts in order of Bid highest first, to last.

With this in mind say for instance you have the following statistics:

Header channel = 1,000 views - 1 clicks - $1 - $1
Footer channel = 1,000 views - 2 clicks - $0.50 - $1

Now do you notice the pattern when looking closely at your channels, your header ( the first da block js ) pays out alot more than your footer ( the last ad block js ) because the highest bidding ads are on the header block.

What does this mean? remove the footer and reep more from the header?

Well you could do that, but it's not wise, your footer still makes you a good bit of money.

Each advertisement ad in a block is ordered by its highest bidding ad left to right... this means that id a adblock showing 4 ads is positioned at the top and say for argument sake the highest bidding was 1$ a click and the minimum was 0.5$ a click you have a range. Your footer adblock becomes even less value again 0.5$ to maybe 0.03$.

My suggestion is take a look at your design and click quantity on your channels, if your footer is giving you a really high CTR then its wise to turn your header into 1-2 ads per block than it is 4.

I hope you found this guide useful. check your channels you'll actualy find what i'm saying here is very realistic.

Thanks for the great info.
Question: does the adsense code tell google where the ad block is positioned in our pages?

Use channels to reffer to their location "footer", "header" etc.. there is also a way of showing the url.

:) enjoy.

It helps to understand channels, if you have a adwords account like myself you may of read that they place you in order of highest bid, so why adsense doesnt't tell us about this? because they don't care. (it's automatic)

You'll enjoy more money if you just stick to a few ads.. but make sure that you don't limit them as such.

Image ads and Text ads are both on a different bidding system so sometiems image ads pay more than text, vise versa.

Image ads would seem more likely to pay better as its one ad block but people don't get much CTR from them so its a sacrifice you and your adwords advertisers have to make, which is likely very poor so poor paying.

Text ads are bidded to the max lately I noticed the keyword woman and men went from 0.02$ a click to almost 0.06$ minimum, this must of put a strain on the keywords :) so worth trying them out if yoursite is related to your visitor gender.

Excellent info!

Does this mean that if you have a single ad in a block, that will be the ad whose bidding was the highest?

My experience has pointed to this conclusion. At one point I tried two ad blocks on my largest site’s pages and my epc when way – I mean waaaay down. This led me to believe that the second ad unit had lower paying ads. I removed the second ad unit and my epc went back to normal.

The only issue is the smaller you go the less likely someone is going to click!

This is why a big 4 advert banner in the header and 1 advert banner in the footer is the best combination for me, keep the footer centered and the header blend in with your site design and you'll have a revenue at it's fairest.

Do not use 3 ad blocks that's greedy and you'll see for yourself your value per click ranges from The best to the worst each page. I prefer keeping my adveerts to around 5 in total, 4 at top 1 at bottom, keeps the 1 at the bottom fairly decent priced.

Skyscrapper in the middle on the left or right would perform half as good as your header but half as better as your footer give or take.

Hope you'r all getting richer!

Look at my adsense... $456.40 ohwel 1 more hour to go.. at least it's still good right? :D hehe

*writes x-mas list for santa*
increaes my traffic from 0.3-5 million page hits to 1million...
get me to my 1000$ a day target even if you have to boost the god damn value per click!
