Hi,

Hope someone can help. The (large) company I work for currently host a number of sites related to their business area. They use a combination of asp and MsAccess for the database bits running from a win2k server box.

I have been asked to look into installing PHP and MySQL in addition to asp/msaccess. I realise many webhosts use linux etc to do this as it's easier, but for now this is not possible.

Could anyone give me any advice on doing this and any security issues that may occur...my necks on the line ;)

Many thanks :)

You should be able to install php and mysql onto a win2k box without problems.

I have done it many times in the past but now use windows server 2003 instead.

Just download the win23 exe setup files from mysql.com and php.net

you can get easyphp which will install everything you need & more all in one go. it also includes a neat tool for managing it all too.

What impact, if any will this have on security? Also, will the affect the asp etc already on the box?

Thanks again :)

Hi,

For PHP, there's two dll's and two folders you have to set rights for, pay attention to the last message box during installation.

For mySQL, read the Microsoft Install section of the doccumentation. You have to modify the default users setup, for security reasons.

I would start here
[php.net...]

for mysql this link should do
[dev.mysql.com...]
