Hopefully the devs do not overlook the one glaring problem they made with PHP 5, that you can't run it beside PHP 4 with both running as apache modules. Hopefully the devs will make 6 so that it can run beside PHP 4/5 as an apache module, and I think we'll then see a rather smooth transition from 4/5 to 6.

Otherwise, as the article says, we'll likely have 3 competing major PHP versions 4/5/6 just like we have 4/5 now.
