I think putting this down to Google is a bit of an over-estimation of their impact. I think you probably want to put that down to the web. Affiliate programs have had a similar, potentially even greater impact.

I agree to the point that "world" in this case is used to note a niche "a big niche" of people that make their living wholly or in part from the net. The true world is much, much bigger. I would say that there are probably 50,000 in the world that can give you a good definition for all the words in your list. For instance, most of the people reading this thread will be "civilians" interested in the ipo from the point of view of investing in the company, and they wouldn't know what a "black hat SEO" is.... {This would not be the same for other cats in this site, but I am certain that it is so for this one} The traditional economy is so much bigger than the emerging internet economy that you can't even beging to compare. P.S: You forgot the most used term "Google" instead of "Search". That one is the most widely use :)

People can even sell adwords coupons and GMail/orkut invites. There is also a market for programs that "help" people with google. They range from free to expensive blackhat SEO like programs and WhiteHat Bid Management tools. I have a feeling Google has paid for quite a few cars on here...

After Florida I bet they had a big hand in helping the alcohol industry. Seriously it has created a market for domains that are not dictionary value. (g value domains)

| Now that wouldn't surprise me at all. Hollywood could do something with the Larry and Sergey story for sure. Or maybe it'll be a TV movie like that Jobs/Gates one from a handful of years ago.
