Traditional Listings vs Pay Per Click
Does anyone have camparison CTR's

I do a alot of PPC marketing and have been doing a good bit of traditional optimization. I am now at the point where I really am wondering how much more traffic I could get if I put a substantial effort in my traditional listings and optimization. Does anyone have any comparable CTR if you have lets say an adword in google in the top five and a traditional listing in the top 5 which one has a better click through rate. Is there overlap of visitors or are they different people using the paid listings vs traditional. If anyone could give me feedback that has both types of campaigns I would appreciate it.

I've noticed that my CTR in that situation (on Google) has been the same for both listings (around 6.5%).

My conversion rate is slightly better with the PPC listings.

IMO- People clicking on paid listings typically know what they want and are ready to buy. At least on Google where the AdWords listings are completely separated from the regular ones.

I have a client who is often in the top 10 for organic and in the top 3 for PPC for the same keywords. Their PPC traffic is 2-3 times as heavy as their organic. (This is an e-commerce site - service oriented sites may have different results.)

When I factor in organic keywords phrases that we don't bid for on PPCs, their traffic and conversation rates are very close for organic vs. PPC.

Keep in mind that the PPC position will also determine which of your listings will pull more traffic.

I can't provide any input on the topic, as my licensed shopping cart does not support ROI tools, but I have often wondered about this myself. Nice info on the replies so far, and very helpful. Wish there were more.

We see 3X higher CTRs for PPC vs organic.
