|background not displaying correctly|
| 6:57 am on Mar 31, 2005 (gmt 0)|
My site has had a background issue with non-IE browsers - NetScape, FireFox. I deducted the issue was with the css a firm created for my site. I fixed the background issue by changing some css :
background: url(graphic.jpg) left top scroll repeat-x;
...I changed it to:
background: url(graphic.jpg) repeat;
It appears to have fixed it. I am just curious as to what the original format was accomplishing and why it worked only in IE? - Thanks

repeat-x repeats across the horizontal but not down the vertical. repeat-y does the opposite, only repeating down the vertical.
It is useful in some cases where you do not want the background to repeat horizontally or vertically.
It should work cross-browser thought!
you could also set no-repeat so that your background is only placed once, should you require that.

The background image is 11x380 pixels. In those other browsers it would repeat the first layer across the screen; however, below that 380 pixels it would be blank?
