Hello, My name is Suzy and I've been off tables for what seems like ever. Although my clients sometimes force me to indulge again. It is not pleasant when this occurs but serves as a painful reminder that they are there tempting me in everyday life. fortunately my new addiction (CSS) enables me to cope with tables as well so a compromise is easily reached in most cases and I can return to my "safe" world with the help of this forum. ;) Suzy

I am TheDoctor, and I have been fully converted to CSS since August. It took me nearly a year, working evenings and weekends, but it feels goood. I can now do things on my site for the most modern browsers that I thought were impossible, and I can let users of old browsers have a stripped-down version of the site. It also works for IE. Thanks to all those on Webmaster World who helped! [edited by: TheDoctor at 7:17 pm (utc) on Oct. 31, 2003]

I have lot's of addictions I have gotten rid of: Frames and essential JavaScript I have managed to shake the addiction Tables, every now and again I like to crack open a can of 'table' and place it inside my css laid out page. One step at a time and the addiction will fade. Though I love an injection of table for tabular data.

My name is WillyB. I thought I had a handle on this problem. Then I spent some time with my old friend Nav4. I never realized how fast one can fall back again. It really wasn't my fault! Someone else made me talk to Nav4 again :( I'm here to tell you, if you're gonna change your life, you gotta' make new friends. WBF

My name’s Rich I sorta get the idea but it’s a pain in the arse, let’s face tables do what they do and then I can always use css as a hack when I need it, but I am trying, bloody SuzyUk made me. Hehe she’s going to be responsible for the debugging of my site, which hasn’t been update for 15 months…. And there are many many things that she is responsible for. Nutscrape forget it, it’s dead, and Mozilla, yuk terrible rendering. Opera, that’s the 1 does everything it says on the tin. Rich

I would switch but the only layout holding me back is a multiple column layout where all columns are the same height (the shorter columns extend down to the length of the longest). I don't believe this can be done with CSS, can it? I use this layout too frequently to switch from tables.

Hi, My name is Adam and my addiction began only a few months ago. My pusher (Dreamweaver) laid out my first sites in tables. Through the help of webmaster world, I've found that using css, though more difficult, is a much better high. I eliminated my table usage a couple of weeks ago, but must admit that I'm steadily increasing the file size of my css injections.

My name is Victor. I've cut out all my self-destructive usage of t****s for page layout. I still use them for tabular data, but I can handle it. Though sometimes I get confused. Are the boxes you are reading this in best as a big table because it is tabular data or what?

I'm just getting to the 'forget nutscrape' (I like that too!) stage. I think I can handle the total layout bit, it's just forgetting those 2 or 3 old pals who still get off on old browsers. (I have a whole bunch of new friends, but the old ones keep coming around) Thanks to Nick and the rest of you kind people for helping me through this thing. Can I get some cookies now¿

My name is Webwork. I am in the pain of attempting withdrawl from tables. I want to know. I want to know. I don't know. I don't know. It's scary. I don't have the time. Do I have to? I'm just an old dog, leave me alone, no new tricks, okay? It's so confusing. How do I get a website to work in all those browsers with all those bugs. OKAY. I've NEVER hand coded. I'm a Wussy-Wig guy. (Yes, wussy.) I'm so afraid. Tremble. Tremble. Whimper. Sniff. OHHHH, aaarrrggghhhh, the pain, the pain. The horror, the horror. Help me. It's so dark in here....... Mommy? That just about sizes up where I'm at with CSS. I've read and read and read, but "touch it and play with it"? Noooooo. That's scary and I can't get over it.
