Difference Between ID's and Classes in CSS

 10:06 am on May 9, 2003 (gmt 0)

Hey guys, quick question...

Whats the different between declaring a class with # or .?

eg: .dave or #dave

I've looked around, but no clue. Are they the same? Different? (if they are different, how come?)
