If you do a search for 'Lake Tahoe' or 'Audi A4', for example, the ads show up immediately above the first row of images.

I have been seeing this for some time now. They have done 2 different layouts as far as I have seen. Initially, I noticed 6 ads at the foot of the page. Recently they have changed it to 2 on top and 4 on bottom.

I haven't seen it but I don't think that it is a very good idea. Will ads on Google Images convert into sales?

shorebreak, what you are seeing is a limited test. A small percentage of users on Google.com will see AdWords text ads (identified as sponsored links) above or below the image results on a Google Image Search. At this time this is all the information that I have. :) AWA2
