wnshops, my best advice on being successful with AdWords seems really obvious - but in reality, I think it is an under-utilized tip:

Take time to learn how AdWords works. ;)

AdWords can work exceptionally well, or it can be pretty frustrating. And just where an advertiser ends up on this broad continuum depends a lot on how much effort the he or she puts into understanding it.

Here are some resources which are useful in understanding the nuances of AdWords:

* This Forum, of course. ;)

* Searchable Help Center:
https://adwords.google.com/support/?hl=en_US

* Optimization Tips:
https://adwords.google.com/select/tips.html

* Demos and Guides:
https://adwords.google.com/select/library/index.html

* Editorial Guidelines:
https://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html

* AdWords Learning Center

Lastly, here is another top tip, which, when applied will really help newer advertisers to do better. IMO, at least:

Be very 'targeted' rather than 'general', as you pick your keywords, create your Ad Groups, write your ads, etc.

I wish you the best of success!

AWA
