I don't know if they are testing or if it's here to stay, but the old adwords layout is back.

If I remember, the ROI was higher with that layout, so it's good news.

Negative for google.de - maybe they are doing some selective tests?

Almost certainly the case, pmkpmk. In this instance, I had not even heard of it myself. I've done a bunch of searches and have not been able to duplicate your results, NoCarrier. ;)

A sharp eye you have there, btw.

Hmmmm.. Maybe someone pressed the wrong button this morning. The layout is back to what it was. Oh well. Strange.

Definitely something going on. My site has cached page link. I've had nocache for over a year now.

3 months ago I saw the 'old' layout also (in the Netherlands) for a few ours and after that no more.

I think G's testing click behaviour.

I also would like to see the background colors return. I'm sure they had a better ROI. And should have been better for Google. Never understood why they changed.

Never understood why they changed.

Maybe a lot of users were complaining about "too many ads."

We all know that without the different colored background, the majority of searchers don't even know they are ads.

I just saw it as well when experimenting with some Google Local searches. I wonder if they aren't stepping up the testing, looking for a few more $ for the shareholders.

Well, what do you know. We have ebay and Nextag selling widgets too!

I found the green ads again - on Google Answers [answers.google.com].

And - yes - I liked the layout much better!

That's how [local.google.com...] is laid out as well.

Seems Google always colors the boxes if they're on top to separate them out.

The ads on local.google.com are a purplish/mauve shade here, not green as I saw them on answers (tried "pizza" in "herndon, va").

You also get the old layout with Google's special searches, e.g. [google.com ]
