By my rough calculations, I believe I am right in saying that the 3 month period to prove your worthyness is nearly up. As a result, there should be a surge in people now receiving their glitzy Advertising Professional logo.

I am keen to see what it looks like and whether Google will implment any verification system (ala Paypal).

Condiditons for receiving the professional status:

  • Pass the exam.
  • Manage an account for 90 days.
  • Spend a total of 1000 US$ accross mutiple accounts in MCC in 90 days.
  • 90 day period begins upon registration for a Pro account.

    Yes, technically the program says '90 days' and was launched on November 11 2004.

    Hmmmmm, I'm not sure why, but I just have this very strong feeling that the first batch of logo recipients would really like, oh, say, a G hat and t-shirt.

    Let's call it an intuition. :)

    I'll go drop the hint in a few well chosen places. Can't promise anything, but it seems like a great idea to me too. ;)

    I don't recall t-shirt size being part of the sign-up screens though. Uh-oh. =:/

    I've got a little while to go in my wait. I hope:

    1-Not many professional's out there
    (or)
    2-There will be enough supplies for me to get mine

    Im not sure if this is private information, but awa, can I find out stats of the AW Professionals program? Not only would it be neat to look at test averages to find out what percentile you're in, but it might transalate into a higher level of pride coming with the label, which directly equates to more people promoting their (aw) services.

    Was nicely suprised to find it there just now :)

    Shame it's a bit bland tho lol.. bit more like a hitwise badge/logo would have been better but hey ho it's google so can't argue.

    Just reading the parameters/restrictions for use of it and I think everyone should read them before charging off and resizing/slapping the logo all over the place.. won't be nice to get it confiscated :(

    Kmander, I bring what I hope will be good news. :)

    The 90 days is continuous, or 'rolling'. So, lets say that, if in the 90 days which begin now you meet the threshold, then the logo will appear.

    It's automatic, by the way. So you won't need to write in or anything.

    OK - let's say, hypothetically, that you were to write AdWords support with your question. You'd get a response that looks very much like the following. (Edited slightly to meet WebmasterWorld TOS. In other words, what we have here is a paraphrased AdWords support email. Heheh.)

    Your US$1000 total spend is based on the aggregate amount your 'My Client Center' account accrues over the past 90 days. We'll re-analyze your 90-day spend every day after reaching the initial 90-day period.

    In other words, 90 days after you sign up for Google Advertising Professionals and every day thereafter, you're eligible to meet our total spend requirement.

    Everyone loves an example. So, here's an example:

    Let's say, kmander, that you sign up for Google Advertising Professionals on Jan. 1, 2005. After the first 90 days in the program (April 1, 2005), you accrues a total spend of US$850, which doesn't meet the threshold. On April 2, 2005, Google calculates your spend between Jan. 2, 2005, and April 2, 2005 (90 days), which turns out to be US$840. Google continues to calculate the most recent 90-day spend period for your account until, on, oh, May 10, 2005, you accrue a total spend of US$1000 (approximately between Feb. 10, 2005, and May 10, 2005) and are now eligible to become Qualified.

    Shane21, you've got that right about the restrictions on the use of that logo. They're complicated and not intuitively obvious. I've already seen a site violating those rules.

    AWA, does Google have plans to do anything to further promte this program? It has now fully launched. There are a bunch of us who have met all the requirements. A press release maybe?

    BTW, about how many QGAPs are there at this point?

    Wouldn't it be better to make the logo clickable (with the caption "Verify..."), leading to a page on Google.com with a mini certification page for that adwords advertiser? A bit like the 'Verisign Secured' verify button that you see on shopping sites perhaps?

    Otherwise, what's stopping someone from just saving the gif onto their website without having passed the requirements?

    Sorry I missed your questions before Import Export. I must have skimmed right past them. I'm guessing that a lot of this information would considered proprietary, as you suggest - but I'll see what I can find out.

    Still working on that one. What a great trick that would be, though, to have your logo appear at the same instant as the post knocks on your door. :)

    Just noticed that I've got my Google Advertising Professional qualification - there it was in the Pro Centre Tab of My Client Centre Adwords account!

    I suppose I was expecting an email. Maybe an email to advise when the 90 days have passed, with a link to the Pro Centre tab would be appropriate upon completing the requirements AWA? I don't normally look in the Pro Centre Tab......

    Suggestion: what about a "boilerplate" news release and other such tools in a "congratulations" packet, to go along with things like the PPT you have made available on selling AdWrods?

    I hate boilerplate PR, by the way. But I've been meaning to have something written up by the time I received my logo. A news release "in the can" may spur folks like me along to tweak the boilerplate to personalize it, then get it out to local media, post on my site, etc. That helps me, and gets the word out about the program from all GAPs. A win-win as we all educate the market about AdWords and AdWords Pros.

    I like chrisk999's suggestion - the GAP logo should be able to link to a Google page with a listing of the GAPs (maybe by country) - to verify that the logo wasn't just ripped off another GAPs website.
