Internet Explorer when combined with the Google Toolbar contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when viewing of malicious HTML occurs, and will result in Internet Explorer Browser crashing.

This vulnerability is only present when Google Toolbar is used in conjunction with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Neither product is vulnerable by themselves.

Upgrade to Google Toolbar version 2.0.113 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.

Doesn't IE do that all the time anyway, or is it just me?

To say it's a "new" vulnerability seems rather "hyperbol-ish."

What prompted the October 20, 2004 update to this exploit? Is it that Google finally fixed the toolbar?

Or just uninstall the IE toolbar altogether and use Mozilla/Firefox with their toolbars (and various pagerank extensions available if desired).

If you could excuse my stupidity amznVibe could you please tell me how you do it - I mean seeing pagerank on tollbars other than google toolbar - or is it using google toolbar on browsers other than IE?

Very much appreciated

S.

Firefox has the ability to show PR. It is a seperate install from the G toolbar.

There is a third party Google toolbar for Mozilla/Firefox and there are a few third party extensions to show pagerank within Firefox. I don't want to link to them directly but they are easy to find, just do the obvious searches. Unlike the Google toolbar for IE the pagerank can be turned on and off very quickly and easily, independent of the other functions (which means better privacy).

Thank you guys

I can't wait for a similar thing to appear for Opera - the only thing that keeps me from using it all the time is the Google toolbar.

I bet I'm not the only one...
