this is SOOO COOL! now there's no reason to use IE anymore.
a little bit slow though (PR indicator takes some seconds to load), but it doesn't affect browsing or the rest of the toolbar.
and most important: this also works on windows!
(unlike what the title of this thread suggests.)
Its not working for me. I see an empty grey box in that area. When I mouseover the area I see "PageRank".
Firefox is quitting every time I try and dowload the GoogleBar Mozilla extension.
Anyone have ideas?
works for me.
win2k, firefox 0.8, googlebar 0.8.0.22

Press reload/refresh. I have the same problem on some pages. Been working for a whole minute now for me!
Works in Windows with FireFox 0.9c for me.
It is the lame way to show PR, it gets PR image from
not sure how that is lame.
It's about time a toolbar for something other than IE can show PR.
Now I can dump IE and just use firefox. Yippee!
working great for me on my G4 laptop with OSX 10.3 and Firefox 0.8
I wonder how scalable it is.
I can see someone making an automated PR checker from this. heh.
Tried all but still won't work for me...it is there, labeled and all but no rank?
Yep...I'm having trouble too. Uninstalled, reinstalled, et al with no luck.
Would really like to get it working properly.
WinXP Pro, Firefox 0.8, Googlebar 0.8.0.22
Haven't gottem it to work yet either. The pagerank box shows but nothing in it.
Excellent, it'll be handy having pagerank in Firefox, seems to working fine too.
I remember there was an unofficial pr tool for mozilla ages ago, but that was discontinued because of legal issues with Google; won't the same happen with this one?
Pagerank was the only reason I had to open IE. Hopefully Google will follow suit with an official version sooner or later.
...and Nick Stallman is only 15 yrs old :)
Got it working!
Your are right though Muesli, this takes 'a while' for the toolbar to appear, but nevertheless, a step in the right direction.
Perfect. Works perfectly as it should. Can't say the UI is visually neat, but hey I am not going to fuss!
I'm surprised someone hasn't reversed engineeered the google toolbar and got the code that's called to retrieve the number.
I presume that's all it does.
All these damn kids everywhere writing viruses and trojans - shame some of that skill couldn't be put to some use.
Thanks for the heads-up - thanks a million!
Installed and re-installed and still no bar. Very frustrating. SuSE, Firefox on a greybox with DSL. Does the software use a port that I need to open?
Remember, all your request for urls will be going through a 3rd party server to get the PR image, and you have no way of knowing that they aren't being stored/tracked
So how long do you expect it will take Google to block this service...? ;)
How do I install for OS X? It saves as xpi extension, what do i do next?
If you're on OSX (I'm running 10.2.8), you can install the .xpi extension file by going to FILE>OPEN FILE and then selecting the .xpi file. It should do the rest.
As to the crashing, this happened to me several times until I realized I was running version 0.8. I then downloaded version 0.9 and it worked.
Incidentally this version shows itself as version 0.8.0+ in the 'About' section on Mac OS X.
On a nother note, it looks like Nick's site has been getting pummeled with requests. I can't get to it as of 11:30 CT USA. I guess I will wait a few hours and try again.

And, as of 1:30 PM Eastern time, Nick's site appears to be down. It appears as though /. got him. :(
SELECT * FROM BIG_DATABASE WHERE USER = 'UNAUTHORIZED TOOLBAR'
Good way to stay on the radar, folks.
