PR was on and off for the last hour - now no PR for any site I view - also, the SERPs I keep my eye on just changed...

Oh woe is me! How will I know who to link to? I guess I'll have to look at the content of the page requesting a link, instead of just at the toolbar.

; )

Well ... according to sources at google .. the toolbar pr never worked anyways .. this is second hand from some others who went to a conferance though

Maybe they have a version that works.. and doesnt show 1/2 your pages with a pr0 and the other half pr 6 :P wishfull thinking about the other half there somewhat

Well, worst case senario, our little friend the google pr toolbar is gone for good....
Perhaps it will ad a little quality control to our linking strategies.....
We'll actually have to read a site that we potentially want to link to? Imagine that..... ;)

I can't remember how to change my host file, and after doing a site search can't find the information on how to do it. Can anybody either provide me the directions of how to do it or point me to the thread that discusses how to do it?

thanks

Imagine webmasters refusing to link because they are afraid of linking to a bad neighborhood and getting penalized? :( Some green in the toolbar is a Google stamp of approval for a site.

the other thread got closed so this may seem a non sequitor...

i think this is a result of emergency reindexing after the artificial yahoo PR biases were pulled.

Chuckling here. Just took a look and TPR for some major index pages show:
yahooie 10/10
m$n 9/10
a11theweb 8/10
my-domain 5/10
go*gle 1/10

Don't mean diddly except I did get a chuckle from it.

In a fit of panic I did the unthinkable and EMailed Google about the PageRank meter earlier today. To my surprise, they just replied saying that it was an internal issue that they've resolved. So, it's all over, folks.

From my SERPs I cannot see any major changes. PR is still visible now but still seems old.

Oh... it is definitely old.

I did notice for a brief moment last night after the problem had been "resolved" that the toolbar broke again for a few minutes.

When google fixed the tool bar problem, did they have to go back to old data? I have a pile of newly indexed php pages disappear. The php pages appeared in google late October.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

From my point of view I cannot verify whether it's old or new data.

I was just commenting that the PR values that are currently being displayed aren't exactly "new". As for data and SERPs I would imagine that if you had something brand new fall out of the SERPs that either A) there is an update in progress or B) they did go back to slightly older data.
