Hi John, For windows, add this line to your hosts file: 66.102.11.99 toolbarqueries.google.com The hosts file should be in Windows>System32>Drivers>Etc for XP. Or do a search of your system |
| Here is copy of another post with details on what to do to check PR updates. The IP address you have to keep changing to the one they are talking about. And remember to comment out the other IP address in the hosts file HTH, -George

Does that not allow you to check the toolbar PR? I do not use it but I remember from the google dance days that this is what you had to do, to see what the PR might be... I am sorry if this is outdated now.

I haven't tried it yet but if that is what it does, I would prefer it or an updated version of it rather than actually installing a toolbar.

Hi John, You require the toolbar to see the PR. Unless you are looking at the PR value on the directory results, in which case you will not be able to view predicted PR value. Am I missing something here? -George

As Alternative Future states the above method changes your toolbar queries to the Data Center mentioned rather than your default DC - which changes depending on the DC accessed at the time. The PR update at the moment is pretty much widespread. Tools are a much easier way of checking the progress. We are not able to link or mention tools at WebmasterWorld - but a Google search for Page Rank tools shows enough.
