Google Web Accelerator back without PREFETCH header!

 4:15 pm on Oct 25, 2005 (gmt 0)

Apparently Google just doesn't learn from past webmaster uprisings and has quietly unleashed Google Web Accelerator back onto the web to cause pain for unsuspecting webmasters.

Supposedly the PREFETCH header isn't being sent according to Sean @ 37signals, but I have yet to downloaad and install the latest incarnation of Frankenstein's Proxy and test it.

More info here:

Anyone else have any info on this latest turn of events?

I just downloaded and tried this new version.
It now pre-fetches links that it ignored the last time (small fonts).
I'll have to do some digging into the packets that are being sent and received to get a handle on this bad boy.

Just what we all need, more bandwidth usage from pages being loaded and never viewed and Google knowing which pages are hot and which are not so well liked.

Big brother all dressed up in tie dye is still BIG BROTHER.

I just read somewhere that Matt Cutts said the bug was found and being fixed.

We shall see.

Can someone give me a link to the last discussion on how to block GWA?
Can't seem to find it, but I vaguely remember it.
