Cannot remove spyware without removing toolbar

 10:26 am on Mar 17, 2003 (gmt 0)

Hello everyone

Whenever I do a search using the toolbar, I get this silly looking frame on the left of the page displayed that says enhance search. Initially I thought it was some new feature that comes with google toolbar (which isn't an enhancement but an irritation) but I see no comments here about it.

So my guess -- spyware.

Did a check on my system with ad-aware and it was detected as --> Possible browser hijack attempt : Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MainSearch Barsearchbar.

Delete it but everytime I start a search, that frame still appears.

Anyone encounter this problem or is it really a google toolbar "enhancement"?

Try this thread:

Enhanced Results [webmasterworld.com]

Just this very night I'd followed the instructions on that previous thread and it worked a charm.

For days now I've been surfing away wondering why Google decided to adopt frames - it was only when I'd had a gutsful and did a Google on 'Google enhanced frames' and the hits sent me back to good ol' WW did I discover that it was spyware.

Thanks to all concerned for the helpful advice.

Thanks Coconutz

Your save me from taking some drastic measures on the registry. Only spyware irritates like that.
