PubConference 2!

 5:01 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

WebmasterWorld is proud to announce PubConference 2, the web marketing and promotion event of 2002, to be held in London England and hosted by WebmasterWorld Members.

You've been hearing about PubCon 1 for the past year and wishing you had been there. Don't miss this opportunity to open yourself to new methods and strategies for web marketing revealed by the friends and family of WebmaserWorld at PubCon 2!

Saturday Oct 12, 2002, 1pm to whenever.

Cittie of Yorke Pub in downtown London England. This is an incredible place for a weekend conference. There's been a Pub there since the year 1430.
The main bar is a cavernous mediaeval-style hall with a high vaulted ceiling and everywhere you look there are carved oak panels, ornate metalwork and some of the biggest oak vats you'll ever see above the bar - it's like an elven king's hall out of The Lord Of The Rings. (-professor hardbottle)

The premise is simple, many of our members are qualified to speak at conferences and are bored to tears when attending other ones. So why did we go to them? Just to get to the bar and network with people! The contacts, the associations, the follow ups, and the friendships have been some of the most productive contacts we have ever been part of.

What's in it for me?
The Short scoop? It's your chance to put yourself in the loop with the in marketing crowd (it's probably why you came to this site).

We will be having several "round table" discussions dealing with topics from acquiring traffic to converting traffic. I've also hear rumors that a certain forum operator will be sharing 20 years worth of secrets on successful forum building.

AllTheWeb, Position Tech, Inktomi, TopDog, Overture UK.

Special Guests? Who will be there?
- many of the worlds and and Europes top seo's will be there.
- 3 guys who each made over $100k last year running mom & pop affiliate sites.
- Search Engine Representatives. (don't tell em I told you this, but talking with these folks was one of the highlights of the last conference for me. shhh).
- A guy named Sullivan from SearchEngineWatch will be there.
- Per and Susan Koch of the Pandia Post.

Travel - goin mobile:
We've been watching air fares from the US to London since March, and they are as inexpensive right now as they have been all year long!

All funds go directly towards the cost of hosting the event (venue expenses, and the OPEN bar etc..).

Early bird signup until the end of July for only 45 Pounds Sterling (approx $69USD)

Got Site? Sure:

A little more than I needed to know!

 5:22 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

rubik!!! that was really really funny!

 5:24 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

You know, the problem with being an eternal pessimist is that you always assume news will be BAD! I was fearing the worst... you could have told us it was GOOD news!

Watch out London!

 5:25 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

OK, somebody really wants to keep me away from these things!

My company has done two conferences a year for our clients; one in the winter and one in the summer. The Bar Conference happened to be on the same weekend as our winter conference, so I couldn't attend. Or at least I thought it just "happened!"

But this year we decided to switch to just one conference a year, and moved it to the fall. So of course just a few weeks after the date is finalized, the Pub Conference is on the same weekend!

Coincidence? Or conspiracy?

 5:27 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

We will be there! I say we, because I've been advised that I may need a body guard.

 5:27 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

I will be back! probably hosting the drunk in the corner contest.

Heh! I notice that an inordinately high number of pubcon/barcon veterans are already pouncing on the announcement... wonder why?

Alternative hotels near the pub:
Moathouse Hotel [moathousehotels.co.uk]

Another Thistle hotel [thistlehotels.com]

Kingswayhall I know the president of Positiontech stayed at this hotel at the SES 2002 ;) [kingswayhall.co.uk]

Well what about those under 21?

Any chances of getting one of these going in the U.S. ? I sure would be willing to help orchestrate something. It's hard for a 20 year old to pay for a plane ticket to get to London.

You just missed BarConference, which was held in California in February.

 6:39 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

>Well what about those under 21?

Legal age is 18 in the UK although if you look over 12 you will get served in most pubs :)

 6:51 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

>if you look over 12

Seth, there you go... no problems. Well, maybe.

 6:58 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

*lol* Luckily I'll have official documents... so it won't really matter what I look like :)

 7:01 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

Any estimates on when tickets run out? I don't have a penny on my CC but should be able to sort something in about a week. Hope i'm not too late!

Not been back home for ages...

 7:04 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

BTW, NFFC says he isn't going to let the US mods off the hook with BarConference [barconference.com]. He says PUBconference [pubconference.com] is king and aims to prove it.

 7:24 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

Well, PubCon has MUCH better beer on tap... but I don't think London could beat the weather in S. California on the best of days.
Good thing I care more about good beer than good weather... ;)

 7:45 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

i'm in.
signing up through paypal was a real pain - i nearly gave up. that is the one and only time i make any payment through them. still, it's done now :)

 8:24 pm on Jul 2, 2002 (gmt 0)

It's less than 2500 hours until Pub Conference 2002. Those of us who were at the first will surely be counting down.
