It's nonsense! The top 500 sites or so are accurate but after that, it's a pile of rubbish!

Not accurate at all. Remember, Alexa only measures traffic to your site based on visitors to your site who have the Alexa tool bar installed.

In my experience, the number is easily skewed. Brett's evaluation, from this thread... How much value to place on Alexa? [webmasterworld.com...] | To me - if the number is more than 5k it is questionable. If it is more than 10k, it is not accurate and can be influenced. Above 2k, it is very accurate. |

| 1. How much surfers are having Alexa toolbar installed in their browser so far? Is that significant amount compare to all worldwide internet users? 2. In fact, I had some spyware problems while having that toolbar on my browser until I decided to remove it. Should I re-install it to bring me back my traffic rank? No matter what, having higher rank in Alexa still satify me :)

you'll find alexa toolbar installed only on systems of webmasters, if you want your site to be ranked amonst top 20k, just a small tip visit atleast 200 pages per day of your site frm your own system installed with alexa toolbar and you'll be top 20k site

Alexa ranking is only based on the people who have the Alexa toolbar. So its like the TV ratings and based on mass calculation - should the surfing habits of those with the toolbar reflect the surfing habits of those who don't have it. Which is a grey area really.
