Most searched for term

|Britney Spears didn't release an album of new material this year, but the new mom is still No. 1 on Yahoo's annual list of the most-searched for terms on the Internet. Spears, who has topped the list for three of the last four years, lost out to "American Idol" in 2004. |
Following Spears were, in order, 50 Cent, the Cartoon Network, Mariah Carey, Green Day, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton, Eminem, Ciara and Lindsay Lohan. The list of overall top searches, all of which were entertainment related, "shows us that people are fixated on the activities of pop culture icons," Yahoo "Buzz Index guru" Erik Gunther said in a statement.

|in November, it was the birth of her son, Sean Preston Federline, on Sept. 14 that brought her the most attention, Yahoo said Thursday. |
what made her the post searched item was the pron searches ..Mr Federline is being hipocritical to the n'th degree ;) just look at the pic that accompanies the article which tells you this ..QQ
Elephants and living rooms ..what drives the net is money and *** ..( saved the word filter the trouble and put my own stars in )..
Same as what drives humanity ..accept it or not ..ya wont change it ..and if it was otherwise we wouldn't be here to talk about it ..or anything else ..
OT>BTW if Britney wants to stay up top of search for the reasons she understands and encourages just as much as do the searchers..she needs to pay attention to the non retouched neck photos ..and the life style that gives those lines ..</OT

Does Hawkgirl know how many times you searched for Ms. Spears to make her number one?

That amazes me that people search for her so much. The real question is whether they are looking for Spears porn or to read about gossip on her. LOL

Until now I have never searched for britney spears.
1st on Yahoo, got what i expected in the top 10, except #10. "Britney's Guide to Semiconductor Physics". Strange.
Over to google, now this was more fun, position #4 "The Mystery of Britney's Breasts" - interesting game - lol, #6 the semiconductor page and #10 "Britney Spears spelling correction" [google.com...]
I must live in a cocoon as i'd never seen #10 b4.
Ah well, ive lost my virginity and joined the millions of others searching for miss spears......

I watch the Yahoo Buzz RSS feeds on a daily basis -- the observation that "people are fixated on the activities of pop culture icons" is nearly an understatement.
Even when major world news breaks, it only makes a dent in the pop fluff search terms for a short time. And of course, the fact that the story broke means it is now dominating the pop culture for the moment.

It just makes no sense to me.
The web demographics in my great country is primarily fans of a washed up/out white trash "pop" singer?
This is so sad.

We make the media of the 21st century. Let's let the people of the 21st century make their choice. And they have.
But where is Morrissey?
