Hi all,

Hope someone can help, I'm really stuck at the moment (or should that be clueless) and a little help to point me in the right direction.

I have a site that I launched in May, and was built after reading through the 'Successful Site in 12 Months' thread. I'm starting to get the feeling that I may have landed in a reasonably competitive market....in a way.

To help me explain my keyword situation, my high level keyword is 'metal widget', and my low level keyword is what changes on each page. My site is a reference for the different kinds of metal widgets...

aaaaaa metal widget
bbbbbb metal widget
cccccc metal widget
...
zzzzzz metal widget
zzzzz1 metal widget

I only really have around 4 competitors (1 main one) that offer a similar service as my site, my problem is that the keyword that I target (metal widget) is mentioned on so many other sites that I'm not in the top 250 (or anywhere that I can see) when I enter just 'metal widget' on MSN, Google or Yahoo. If I enter 'bbbbbb metal widget' I'm on page 3 of MSN, but still not on Yahoo/Google.

I have around 10-15 inbound links to my site for the keyword 'metal widget', I have a further 15 from sites that scrape 2 wikipedia pages that link to my site. I have no inbound links for individual keywords (bbbbbb metal widget) as the lowest level keyword could be one of thousands. I was accepted into Zeal last week, but this link doesn't seem to have been indexed as yet.

Ok, a few questions...

1. Is there anything I can do/should be doing to increase my position for 'bbbbbb metal widget' or 'zzzzzz metal widget' etc?

2. In the above situation, should I be targeting inbound links for 'metal widget' only, or should I try getting a few for 'bbbbbb metal widget'?

3. (Kind of connected to 1) How can I make the search engines see that I am a reference for 'metal widget' rather than another site mentioning 'zzzzzz metal widget'?

Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read this, and even more thanks to anyone who can help!

Your site is relatively new and you don't have many links. Get links to the homepage. Get links to the subpages. Try to get links mainly from other relevant pages.

Get more links.

Do you think I should get more links? ;)

One more question...Will the wikipedia scapers do my site good or bad?

Don't think so. For the most part, scrapers of all sorts are helping my sites. ;-)
