Both are excellent pieces of software. I would say that they are very different in their own respects. While WPG is feature rich, most of them are not necessary. SE is definitely more targetted towards finding out your rank, along with the competition. WPG has submission, yet this is a thing of the past. Either you choose, both are good. KG

I use WPG3.0 and it does very well. It lets you set the rank checking on a timer for 200ish search engines (including all the big ones), and even lets you output all the data into excel (I love this feature!)

Search Engine Commando works great for me. They often sponser webmasterworld as well.
