Does Switching Web Hosts Affect Search Engine Rankings

Will switching web hosts affect the search engine rankings for a web site?

I am about to move over 50 or so web sites to our new web server that has a new IP address that is in a totally different range. Nothing will be changed on the web sites themselves. I am assuming that the rankings should remain the same and the search engines will pick up the change in the IP address.

Almost all of the sites are ranked fairly high for their keyword phrases. I really cannot afford to have 50 angry clients giving me a call if their rankings drop.

As long as the domain is the same, you're fine.

The country of the web host may be an issue.

Google seems to regard the location of the server as more significant than the domain.

So a .com hosted on a server located in the UK will probably go down as a UK site.

Shifting of the host does not affect search engine position / ranking.

Just make sure that concerned IP of the ISP are not blocked.

Just wondering.
How would you find out if a hosts' ip ranges are blocked?
