hello,

i'm just starting to use the apace server built into osx. is there a free or cheap program for configuring it without having learn how to edit the configuration files?

either as a local application or via a web interface?

thanks.

How cheap is cheap?

You could pick up a copy of OS X Server 10.3 on ebay for not too much. Pretty nice Apache config tools there.

i've been reading the osx server documentation. it provides all sorts of non apache services that i don't need at the moment.

i'm looking for something free or shareware (say under $50).

want to be able to set things like directory index/no index, mime types and directory permissions which most hosting services provide you a web interface/cpanel for.

thanks

Webmin [webmin.com] can be installed on Mac OS X. Be warned: It can alter many aspects of your system, not just Apache.
