I have got a big problem
my free web host's banner is in with my cached pages

Hello. You would think that I am past that stage by now but I am still concentrating to getting my site in with search engines. I have decided to leave it is for the time being, except for adding content and getting it out there. Further to my last post you were right (as usual). Google has updated my pages beginning of the month but not without what seems to be a huge problem. They seem to have overlooked my main page title and my my web host's freebanner is headlining my results instead. This is my main page we are talking about here. The result comes up as `click here for free webhosting by mywebhost'. My title comes up underneath. What is that all about?

Please guys you have never been wrong so far.

Ditch the free hosting :)

If your serious about selling on the internet, its got to go :)

I hear you karl but in time. In the meantime isn't there anything that can be done to stop them being indexed by robots? Can i not use a command to block their banners. Does this make sense?

If it's on your page, it gets cached. Trying to conceal it from Google will most likely cause you more problems than it will solve.

If you did this to block it for visitors you will also be breaking your host's TOS.

I'm afraid the only real and long term solution is to ditch the free hosting. There are many relatively cheap but reliable hosts out there. Do some research and pick one ;)

Free or not, a banner is a banner isn't it? What about all these sites displaying paid banners at the top, are you saying that this is the norm. I just don't get it. Furthermore my free hosts banner is displayed on all my pages but they were not included in the google's cache, only the one on the index page. Sure I didn't do something wrong?
