I had never used any CMS software. How are they? Someone has recommended Mambo for our website. How is it? What is your exerience with CMS?

Mambo is in PHP and MYSQL. Does it gives total access to its code? I can edit the code completly to add or remove any feature?

Waiting for your comments.

Pathak

You really need to hold off on consideration of Mambo. Recently all of the developers abandoned the project and went off to start their own. You can read more about it in this thread: Mambo Foundation has been established [webmasterworld.com]. You need to either look for another CMS or wait until the Mambo code forks.

Thanks Bill for informing me.

What are the other good CMS available? And i also want to know a general perception on CMS. How they work? And as a software developer what will be my role in that website?

i have stopped using mambo due to many reasons. i had been using it for two of my sites but not any longer.

I now prefer our own developed cms for this purpose.

in free sms, i like xoops a lot. it a perfect full portal system.
