I am curious about the hosting service I am using for one of my new sites. I heard in passing that my hosting company may be preventing many of the major search engines from crawling my site. Is this a common problem? Are there any hosting companies I should avoid?

It has been known that some unscrupulous hosts have at times been doing this lately to save their bandwidth. I would definitely get referrals from some of the other sites that are being hosted by any company I was looking at.
